He IS popular in the West, though. You can't truly enjoy any part of this franchise without enjoying Touma to some degree, because he's everywhere. He hasn't physically appeared in Accelerator (yet) but already he's been referenced by Accelerator's thoughts multiple times and I would not be shocked if the third arc was Daihaiseisai again and he shows up to help, filling in his last day or so of that arc. It doesn't really matter if Touma isn't your absolute favorite, or if you hate the girls dicksucking him - to really enjoy this series, you really can't escape finding something about him you like.
