So I"ve finished Part 7. Easily the best part in the franchise.
What can I say?
I loved it. Every single moment. Every character was so perfectly written, each bringing their own made SBR the masterpiece it is. Despite the slow setup of SBR"s premise, I soon found myself spiraling deep down the rabbit hole, and fell madly, passionately, and irreversibly in love. The worldbuilding was immaculate. The grungy, crazy world of SBR was just irresistible. I was so deeply immersed in the AU America and I was stunned.
The fact that it"s not a traditional Good vs Evil story is just astounding. Johnny wants the corpse to heal his legs (selfish but relatable) and Valentine wants to make America great (selfless but not so relatable). So vivacious in their own right. It was absolutely incredible how all the minor antagonists were also protagonists of their own story. Hot Pants" road to redemption. Mountain Tim"s righteousness. Diego"s will to avenge his mother and rise above man. Valentine"s goals as the main villain, that were objectively MULTITUDES more justified and righteous than the main protagonist"s. His lack of that "evil" quality in him, that had caused many villains before to be so one-dimensional (Dio, Kira, Diavolo lol), just made him comparatively layered, just like the dimensions he can escape to. So deliciously compelling.
A beautiful, magical rollercoaster. a spectacular journey. One I never DREAMED was possible. Johnny and Gyro"s dynamic FAR surpasses that of a teacher-student one, or even a typical JoBro relationship. They bring out the best in each other, Gyro helps Johnny rehabilitate his legs through the art of Spin, and Johnny helps Gyro discover his own weaknesses. And their mundane interactions are just stunning.
SBR just hits differently. The familial themes that run throughout, about family not always being what you deserve (Dario Brando, the "god took the wrong son" motif) just resonates with me on a molecular, spiritual level.
Part 7 is hugely overrated. Read the entire thing and to he honest most of the fights were a slog. Honestly have no desire to read part 8, part 6 was fine except for the ending.
I feel like I read a review from the blog of someone, but yeah, best part without a doubt
Blake Edwards
Ehh, 8 still has to prove itself with a satisfying conclusion
Kayden Robinson
>part 7 is good because uhhh johnny is a TWISTED PSYCHO like me and he learns to not be a psycho and instead be a little selfless, 10/10 development
Bentley Robinson
part one is the only good part all the rest are cringe and mean protagonists, I wish the whole JoJo always stayed on Jonathon his adventures with hamon and his loyal wife erina for all these years since, fuck standshit and scrawny twinks. Buff hamonchads is where it's at.
