Well the setting is boring and there is no scenario.
I like the games though.

There's no story. MHW had a story but it was a pretty pathetic one. It's literally just a game about hunting and killing dinos to turn them into hats and swords to kill more dinos.

There are a few manga adaptations.
Monster hunter Orage is a Fairy tail type of thing.

>minegarde
>boring
What the flying fuck. One of the reasons I like Made in Abyss is because the setting reminds me so much of Monhun.

You might need to study the setting a bit.
games oversimplify but the lore is crazy

>needing a story
hunter SoL
monster villain of the week
monster SoL

Give me my SHITTY MONSTER HUNTER ISEKAI NOW!!

99% of all isekai are part DQ, part MH.
I think that counts.

MH has always been more of a kid game in Japan. Similar to Pokemon in a way.

Are there any Isekai with a setting similar to MH?
The ones I’ve seen all have the typical DQ knights and wizards setting.

>bro play monster hunter is really good
>what is it about?
>bro lol its in the name xd you hunt monsters!! :D
>and then?
>and then you make stronk equipment to hunt even more monsters :D
>but whats the story about?
>bro why do you need one? xD

Welcome to sandbox RPGs.

It does get more story as you go through the game.
MHGU has a modest story, and plenty of lore.
Older games actually have legends and stuff.

And that's a good thing.

>but whats the story about?
You sound like the kinda guy that will like LOU part 2.

no one plays monster hunter for the story but instead for the satisfaction of taking down a giant boss after 20 tries and then doing it better 20 more times to get its armor and weapons
obviously it isn’t easy to get into with fights lasting 15 to 40 minutes but once you understand the feedback loop it can feel really rewarding

well it's a game
arguably the essence of a video game is it's gameplay
If all you want is write a good story might as well write a book

Its a video game
Its popular because it has good gameplay

Its like asking why popular anime has shit games.
Nobody watches that shit for the engaging gameplay
A good video game doesn't necessarily make for a good anime and vice versa
Except Made in Abyss.

Monster Hunter is, at the end of the day, about unga bunga men bashing huge animals with huge weapons. As it is it just doesn't translate well into a direct series.

You will see that soon enough with the new W. S. Anderson silver screen masterpiece.

Do people play this game in single player or it's always multi? I wanted to like it but after 60 hours and hitting a wall I gave up.

I do a little of both. Typically I like to hunt a new monster on my own and then multi when farming.

I play a lot of it alone even though I main a support weapon.
I like getting better.

Its more fun with friends though.

exploring that mhw forest with made in abyss music on the background is kino

i play in single but group hunts can also be really fun if you’re with people you know, and the gameplay (weapons and monsters) have a lot of depth and requires a lot of practice and learning so it isn’t a game for everyone especially western audiences
it could be just you not finding a good weapon/playstyle, or just having a bad matchup, again it’s not a game for everyone

I just find it terribly slow and most of the time I'm dying without feeling I can do anything about it, besides grinding for 100 hours to get some armor that gives me an slightest but not relevant chance of survival. I just find it extremely tedious at this point. I know I'm probably not playing right. It's a shame because I like the concept, the aesthetics and pretty much everything about it except actually playing it.

If you can't solo until late G3 you deserved to be kicked.

id rather have a dark souls anime, thank you

slow gameplay is a given since a “good hunt” can last up to 15 minutes depending on the player
it usually takes several hunts before you can fully understand a monster’s moveset, but most monsters have a long and predictable buildup for moves that you can easily punish. some monsters just have really shitty hitzones (lunastra) or like to combo moves over and over (black diablos) or can just be frustrating to fight (kushala daora). if you’re struggling to learn, try a different weapon, since each one can drastically change the dynamic of a fight (or just be a shitter and go ezmode with bowguns)

Like how? In the past when everything wasn't fucked? Sure that sounds interesting.

why?

could be a bunch of stuff really, maybe have one story per episode, maybe even make it like that netflix show where each episode was made by someone else

Actually that doesn't sound as terrible. I thought you meant standard fantasy adventure anime

But yeah like only an episode featured about one person and their journey could be decent.

Almost mute fantasy version of blame would be pretty cool too.
