You know what heres a new approach. Lets look at the original kaguya and see what changes were made.
Kaguya had five suitors, each of whom failed to retrieve what she asked for. The person who does win her heart is Mikado, whom she gives the immortality potion to which he tosses into mt fuji cause hes an impatient bitch.
Shirogane died trying his damnedest to get the dragons gem. In the manga, shirogane's efforts are rewarded and he does deliver the gem.
Ishigami is told to get the swallows cowry(tsubame) and ends up falling.
Fujiwara cheats trying to get his item and is called out for it. Shown cheating multiple times in manga.
Miko is supposed to get the buddha bowl(kobachi) and tries getting a fake thats easily exposed. maybe foreshadowing of miko having to win back osaragis friendship. also miko seems to love buddhist prayer.
abe is yet to be revealed.
