At least OP never tried to steal from JoJo.

He is still just a kid with a dream..

When did they reveal he knew shanks? I think i missed a chapter

episode 1
>I'm just a kid with a dream
later on
>Son of one of the top 5 nen users in the world, able to become as strong as the most powerful antagonist just by being emo about a fake death of a one-dimensional side character, could survive inhumanly destructive attacks throughout the story even though he's supposedly just some kid

He didn't know any of that until later in the manga. He knew Shanks but he didn't know how big of a pirate he was. I don't know if he knew Garp was a marine or not. If he did he may not have known to what extent. He never met or knew anything about his dad.

One Piece bros, how are we this pathetic?

the black bulls just keep on winning

Based Clover chads!

Im pretty sure garp told him to be a marine in one of the flashbacks. I think luffy always knew

Well Garp kept saying "I'm gonna make you a marine" so Luffy knew. He probably didn't know how important he was.

He didn't know how big Shanks was, he didn't know Ace joined Whitebeard until they reunited, and he didn't even know who his dad was, only seeing what he looked like in a newspaper.

This is a lame thread.

Luffy was extraordinary from Chapter 2, One Piece has never really gone for the "I'm just an average kid" angle that Naruto and My Hero tried to pull. He's analogous to Goku more than any other Jump character.

His Straw Hat being a symbol passed down through the ages with an identical giant magical Straw Hat being locked away by the King of the World Government in its capital is fucking retarded though. Oda should have left that idea on the drawing board.

cloverchads..... I KNEEL

>Took the time to make this edit
WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Yeah, and all this prophecy stuff in the roger flashback is giving me the wrong vibes. I hope oda does not contradict luffy's search for freedom with some 800 year old predestination shit

Hunterbros... I'm tired of this

I'm tired of no chapters
I'm tired of being constantly laughed at
I'm tired of being surpassed by sales
I'm tired of making generals discussing empty innate stuff

Let's take a knee together.

Gonbros......not like this...

Gar the Fist's an admiral?

I don't think he'll go with literal destiny. The "prophecy" just seems to be anticipating the next rebirth of Poseidon to be the point the world goes to shit, which would tie it to Shirahoshi rather than Luffy.
And I still believe that Blackbeards role in the finale will be one of another possible successor, taking after Xebec rather than Roger. The final battle won't be the destruction of the World Government, it'll be the two potential Pirate Kings who carry the Ancient Kingdoms will fighting to decide who'll lead the new era.

>Oda should have left that idea on the drawing board.
Nah it's extremely based. Greatest moment in One Piece.

Predestination and freedom don't contradict, user.

Vice-Admiral. He refuses to become an admiral as it would mean becoming a bootlicker for the Celestial Dragons.
His fame as the "Hero of the Navy" comes from the God Valley incident and the WG giving him credit for capturing Gold Roger (which is propaganda as Roger turned himself in)

>His Straw Hat being a symbol passed down through the ages with an identical giant magical Straw Hat being locked away by the King of the World Government in its capital

I haven't been keeping up with one piece, what the hell is going on. I thought it was just a hat that shanks gave luffy as a memento.

Shit, HxHfags getting Black Bull'd.

Chapter 906 revealed that Marijoa's great secret treasure (mentioned by Doflamingo during the Dressrosa arc) is a giant straw hat kept in a frozen vault. We don't know the significance of it or what it means yet.

Its pretty easy to miss honestly. I only caught it on my fifth read!

It was originally Roger's hat passed onto Shanks, and what said

It's a shitty shonen for kids what did you expect? He will turn into prophecy child demi-god by the end of the series just like Naruto and Ichigo

that's fucking stupid.

Based smug OP reader taking a dump on its haters intelligence

Hiatusbros...

The treasure changes form indicating who you should eliminate, thats why the king was looking at bounty posters for reference. The treasure probably indicateed Teach, Vivi and Shirahoshi too.

This is what I'm hoping it is but until we actually see more of it it's just a theory.

He was never portrayed as average, what are you talking about

From chapter 1 it's established that he knows Shanks and his Devil Fruit and strength establishes him as being different from a typical person

>based Black Bulls winning yet again
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT

wan piss is shit more news at 11

Think of it less as a memento and more as a mantle. It signifies the passing of will as much as anything. The theory that the locked Straw Hat is an independent magical object that takes the shape of the biggest threat to its user is cute but I'm willing to bet it's its own legitimate artifact.
