A year passes, the story begins in the spring shortly after Kagome starts her third year of middle school, she changes to her summer uniform a few volumes in (though she stops wearing it in the past after a bit presumably due to leaving her arms too exposed), then by the end of the series it's winter and she graduates. Of course there's also a three-year timeskip in the epilogue while she's stuck in the present, during which she goes through high school.

He was never romantically interested in Kagura though. He canonically felt bad for her and tried to avenge her tragic memory.

I know he didn't fuck her, but there was definitely an unspoken curiosity on his side for her, which could have been romantic.

Kikyo was hanging on to just a little bit of it, that's why she rushing to get away after she was first resurrected before Kagome inhaled it all, and that's also why she had to keep a soul stash to keep moving. But when she died again I guess were supposed to forget all that since you'd thing Kagome would just recover the last bit. But Kagome had a really big ass soul according to Kanna, so I guess she didn't mind shaving off a couple of spiritual pounds.
