Reading it for the first time, and aside from the authors obvious Loli/shotacon love, it's well drawn and pretty enjoyable. But what am I in for?

suffering and fetishes
if you think you can't handle it then now would be the time to turn back
For a masterpiece. 1st volume is already in that territory in my opinion, though.
Cute girl, good boy and fluffy bunny suffering a lot. Be also prepared to suffer while waiting over 3 months per chapter. If you can swallow the fetishes and visual gore, it is a really good manga.
despair.
The longer this series goes on, the darker it gets. When reading MiA, never relax.
>But what am I in for?
authors obvious Loli/shotacon love
Great setting wasted on shitty MC.
MOFF
Lolis and shota's getting gripped, ripped, stripped, dipped in marinara sauce, beaten, eaten, and then excreted
I can't go past the loli/shota drawing style. It's unsetting but in the wrong way
it gets better with every chapter, no joke
a cute adventure story that gets darker and
more fucked up the lower they go down the abyss.
but if furry and pedobait shit triggers you might cringe at times.
Then don't bother. it is a good series, but its
fanservice is disgustingly cringe inducing if you are not a lolicon/shotacon.
Its been several months already, since last chapter, any news on when the next one will come out?
I love my wife Nanachi!
Saw some twitter messages saying the 9th volume is planned to come out end of July, but I didn't see anything official. Chapter 55 must be huge.
SOONtm
Actually, looks like the same pages/chapter distribution as last volume:
>Vol. 8
ch. 48: 26 pages
ch. 49: 27 pages
ch. 50: 29 pages
ch. 51: 49 pages
>Vol. 9
ch. 52: 29 pages
ch. 53: 28 pages
ch. 54: 27 pages
ch. 55: approx. 46 pages
I figured that when the punishment was naked hanging up, and they keep trying to touch each other's privates
>and they keep trying to touch each other's privates
They never do that.
It makes me uncomfortable as well but I think it's in service of the central metaphors.
Smoothbrains write it off as fetishism but I suspect it's actually something a lot more subtle and profound.
Why do they keep trying to see Reg's penis then?
nipples
Papa's rod
Seeing and touching are two different things, thought you would be able to figure that.
Right, it's kind of the opposite. Some sexual situations happen because Rico considers Reg a robot, not a boy, so she really doesn't care about his penis or being nude around him (until he gets an erection and she's like... "huh").
But then again she does thoroughly inspect and experiment with his penis and anus when they first meet, offscreen.
That doesn't happen.
But there are comparable things like Reg wanting to sniff girls' butts and Nanachi recognising the sexual nature of it, even if Rico and Reg himself don't understand.
I think it's all a pretty logical extension of the Ghibli-style nostalgia/youthful exploration premise.
It's pretty natural and unremarkable if you frame it realistically, that pubescent characters have these awkward interactions.
At the same time as they get deeper in the Abyss some of the themes are starting to look like weird existential echoes involving transformation and birth which potentially justify it on a narrative level. We'll see, I guess.
I actually think Tsukushi is really reserved with this stuff: he plays a goon on twitter but in his actual work he walks a really fine line that's more of a mirror for the audience's expectations than anything explicit. Reacting to uncomfortable stuff by dismissing it as fanservice isn't passing that test.
I love Reg!
A really good ride
You should enjoy every chapter and make it last. It's really good.
Adventure, sense of exploration, a world with a relatively mysterious lore, conspiracies, body horror, a lot of child abuse, potatoes faces, sad potatoes, and even surgery without anesthetics, monsters, estrange apparatus and a constant sense of dread that surrounds a trip that so far doesn't have a seemingly a return to the surface.
More movie news:
Dawn of the Deep Soul will be shown in theaters in Hong Kong on July 2nd (neofilmshk on Facebook). Early attendants will be even receiving Shikishis like the Japanese ones, apparently.
And there's the first date for watching online, on Wakanim streaming service in Europe. Don't know if only for France or also other countries:

Meanwhile the German theatrical release has been announced by distributor Leonine, but the tweet was deleted again at the end of the day. Wonder what that was about. The release news got some flak for being dub only, so could be for damage control.
