Wait, how the fuck did he lose?

water
blood

How did any pre ts bad guys lose to Luffy?

Water wet

Hackda's shitty writing

GET THE WATER NIGGA

water, he settled in Alabasta and controlled the water sources (like the rain powder) did everything behind the scenes and without attracting too much attention, so nobody really knew about his power and weakness, Luffy was lucky to survive their first and second encounter and come up with a plan to take him down using water

seethe

don't think
just consoom

He’s a total scrub who Oda recklessly wrote to be much stronger than he actually is.

Oda realized 25 chapters in he already fucked up powercreep, probably got superdrunk and managed to handle water 7 decently and then he doubled down on fucking it up

He was punched a lot.

Ive been thinking about this, for someone that seemed to be as weak as croc he is put pretty far down in impel down, have no fear for trying to kill whitebeard and is known among the higher tier pirates

Blood > sand
Rubber > lightning
Punchfast > cats
Moria's a fucking idiot

Luffy's Chaddery.

>blocks mihawk
>loses to pre-ts luffy
defend this

Tbh none of his major victories since entering the grand line have been convincing
>Loses to crocodile twice, somehow doesn't die. Then beats an awakened logia user who somehow doesn't have haji despite being a big deal
>Beats Enel even though Enel had Mantra and should've been able to dodge
>Beats Lucci through a nakama power up
>OK I'll give him Moria
>Shouldn't even have struggled against Hody and Caesar but struggles anyway for the plot
>Needed help to beat Doffy
>Needed help to beat Cracker
>How tf did he keep getting up after Katakuri beat him down for a whole night?

>can't 1v1 Doffy
>suddenly gonna go beat up big mom and Kaido

He keeps getting away with it

He beat Doffy handily

The people who get defeated in the world either die or turn tail and flee back to Paradise.
The only pre ts bag guys outside of those parameters are Enel, who was naturally weak to Luffy and was excessively cocky, and Lucci, who Luffy changed his fighting style in order to be able to surpass.

The Alabasta arc continues to be the single worst mistake in Oda’s career. He raised the stakes way to quickly, and continues to be plagued by that error in later arcs where he has to maintain the canon that the world ridiculously treats a pissant Croc like a metaphorical planet buster just to maintain writing continuity.

To be fair, though, sucking oxygen out of a room is a vastly underrated means for killing/incapacitating your opponent. I mean, think about it: it completely bypasses standard problems like dodging or armor, it has no elemental counter-balance or counter-play besides just having oxygen tanks (which even then are typically limited in scope,) it's invisible, it takes hold in minutes, and best yet, it works even faster against stronger and more aggressive opponents because it just causes their oxygen intake to become that much more serious. Even in the case of people with hyper-regeneration, it's still effective, because while the body can heal wounds of any given kind, it cannot artificially manufacture a key fuel for survival out of nothing.

plot armor

He got cocky and instead of using haki and shit stomping Luffy he decided to dick around until it backfired

Most pre TS people Luffy fought were fucking jobbers. Luffy practically curbstomped everyone left and right, unless they had a tricky ability

i like to think that Croco was probably pretty tough back in his heyday but after running from the new world, his "dream" was broken and so he became a jobber.
thats why he seems to get massively stronger in impel down since his ambition is re-awoken, he's now back to his peak strength.

He was stronger than Bellamy and reflected Foxys beam back onto him

That nigga needed help to beat Doffy, if it was Luffy vs Doffy on a flat plain it would be close but unless Luffy was able to finish him off during G4 then he would've died.

Katakuri still won that fight to me, he was standing over Luffy when Luffy came too and could've killed him if he wanted to.

Luffy seems to always have problems against any DF that isn't straight forward during the intia encounters

Crocodile while being cool is easily one of the most overrated characters in terms of strength. Anyone getting beat by pre gears Luffy is a weakling I don't care how much Oda power boosts them later to compensate. Don't bring up that "he got lazy in the Grandline" shit either because Moria was the laziest Shichibukai and put up a much better fight.

Luffy did use haki against him without knowing it Oda said so

No his Gear 4 ended, had to rest 5-10min according to himself, he got protected by the other villages but then Doflamingo taunts him and he pulls nakama power out of his ass and instantily reactivates it

people also forget about gama knife.
with no interference luffy loses 100/100.

Honestly people overlook the fact that Luffy has had retard strength since chapter 1. What with one shotting seakings, destroying arlong park and ships with ease etc.

Most of his power ups since then have been technique based like soru for speed, CoO for perception/tactics, and CoA for breaching special defenses like CoA or Logias.

With Croco he only needed to be able to hit the guy and the blood was enough for him to get past that. And Luffys strength is more than enough to hurt the guy.

Specially since Logias are mentioned to get really over confident and wouldn't really need haki for the type of people hanging out in Paradise.

Luffy was stronger

Enel even notes that it's too fast. It also show cases how later on, just having precog CoO doesn't mean you can react fast enough to dodge/block. His decision to try and tank the hit was his mistake. But then again he was trying to play the skewer and throw tactic again.

Kata won the fight, Luffy went down first, Kata did the 'stand up again' thing Luffy has done numerous times (Lucci friendship powerup). He only gave in because lolYourWillpowerIsStrongerThanMineAndIGiveUp. The length of the fight was short compared to the other insane 3-5 day long fights we've been told about, it's just another thing to show that Luffy still has a long way to go.

I put croc down to being typical stupid villain shit of not confirming your kills. It also showed that Robin was already planning to move against Croc, he'd have died twice without her intervention. Not having haki is fine, Croc was shown to be arrogant and overconfident in his logia, not as bad as Enel, but still gloating enough that he just lets people attack him. Remember he was a scrub that couldn't make it in the NW and turned tail just after crossing FI into WB territory. We'd need to know more about his deeds as to why he got the warlord offering, maybe having the balls to publicly try attacking an emperor is enough?
