I honestly think it'd be a bomb and make a lot of newfags discover the series. Even normalfag sites have a pretty solid base of oldfags that were there at the time, and it's impossible for them to have no reaction to Haruhi getting a new season or movie. Oldfags would start the bandwagon and newfags would jump on it.

i just rewatched haruhi and didn't notice any obvious QUALITY frames. if it did have any, it blended fine with the animation or was small enough on the screen that it didn't matter.

Honestly, there are things i will never like, and Endless Eight is one of them, i don't care if they were being faithful, creative, wanted to make the audience feel what the characters felt or whatever, watching the same episode with some differences various times is something i will never like.
I guess it's just personal opinion, but seriously, no matter the reasoning, fuck Endless Eight, i know some people defend it and like it, but i just can't.

i don't really like it either to be honest.
it's worth a watch for your first viewing, and then skipping it later.
it wasn't faithful, actually. the book plays out just like the last episode, where they fix it.
the only reason it was done was because they had originally set aside 7 episodes to adapt the disappearance, but then they were told it would have to be a movie. so they just did it on a whim, pretty much.
