Did Bokurano and Rahxephon surpass it?
What did they do right, and what did they do wrong?
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Rahxephon was booting beyond all fucking belief,I tried to finish it so many times but the slice of life segments are suicideinducing
Fuck,I'm retarded ment to type booring
Bokurano was repetitive.
How can you surpass this?
Only 6 episodes in right now but so far I've got to agree, it's bland and stiff shit in almost every aspect. Only a handful of scenes have felt like they were made with more than just the smallest possible amount of effort and imagination. Here's hoping it gets better.
Bokurano is inferior to Eva, but still good.
RahXephon is utter shit.
>RahXephon is utter shit
>Bokurano director hated manga so adapted it terribly
Got it. Neither are worth my time.
>all the low IQ teenagers in this thread shitting on RahXephon
Shouldn't you be in the BnHA thread? Or not even here since you need to be at least 18?
Rahxeshit is the most teenshit show in existence
Rahxephon had interesting bits but ended up being just alright, Bokurano was bad.
The first satisfying Evangelion spiritual successor was surprisingly enough SSSS Gridman.
What's the point in comparing Eva to Bokurano? They're not that similar.
Rahxephon felt nothing like Evangelion. I thought it was decent(or the music and some designs were, at least), but it's only similar to Eva on the surface.
Eva is a masterpiece
Bokurano is good
RahXephon is shit
I don't get how anyone can defend RahXephon
Is this some new form of ironic shitposting?
It's a Misatofag's Eva fanfiction.
Bokurano anime sucked ass, manga was great though and so was the anime OP.
Rahxephon had great music. atmosphere, and tone but the plot meanders a lot, some characters felt inconsistent too. Still liked it alot but more for the atmosphere and spectacle and not because of the plot.
Neither are as good as Eva
Rahxephon is completely different from EVA beyod their superficial similarities. EVA is a pychological study of emotionally broken people where as Rahxephon is a love story. Both have stellar execution on what they want to convey. Haven't watched Bokurano yet but heard the anime differs too much to the manga.
I guess because mecha deconstruction or something.
It's 2020 now, who the fuck remembers Bokurano or Rahxephon?
I don't think it necessarily surpasses NGE but Infinite Ryvius is a great watch if you want something similar in tone and the themes it tackles to Eva
Also it has a sick soundtrack

Is your Gridman comment serious? I don't know much about the show, but I cannot tell if you're being unironic or not.
Eva is older than both and still takes up 30% of this board.
>Is your Gridman comment serious?
Why wouldn't it be?
>I don't know much about the show
Then watch it.
If NGE is depression and hopelessness
Rahxephon is schizophrenia and dementia
Mostly it's just boredom.
>Rahxephon is schizophrenia
That i can agree on
>NGE is depression
One of the more amusing things for me about EoE, by the time Komm Süsser Tod rolled around, I was so numb to it all after Asuka's death that I was able to just appreciate the cool scene and not care about the 4 billion people dying, just like Shinji.
If eva wouldn‘t have been anime and some western dude would have released it without the weebnes. It would have been acknowledged as world literature
Unfortunately wypipo are brains of the small, so nothing like eva would've ever been conceived by them.
To be fair the same could be said about Haruhi, Lain, Boogiepop, Madoka and a bunch of other stuff
Haruhi? Really? Didn‘t watch the other stuff.
But well if kafka can make a book about making him a bug and that beeing a showcase for depression is world literature, then a sciencefiction book about teenage emotions, depression, nihilism and extentialism can also be considered world literature.
Winners:
Eva anime: Asuka
EoE: Asuka
Rebuild 1.0 & 2.0: Rei
Manga: Asuka
Rahxephon: Misato
Bokurano: Seele i guess?
Fafner: kaworu
>Haruhi? Really?
If Primer is considered a good time travel story by westerners, Haruhi definitely has the quality required to be considered up there.
Then again it wouldn't be guaranteed to happen, and to Eva either; Dark is easily one of the best stories the west ever came up with yet it doesn't have that kind of appeal.
Kaworu won the Shinjibowl in the anime
