The entire point is to be disappointed but then realize that growing up leads to more happiness and satisfaction in the end. If there's any singular theme to the show, especially with the dynamic between Simon and Kamina, it's that you're more likely to surpass your childhood ideations than you think.

Yep. I had unironically heard that the main relationship in the show was between Yoko and Simone, I wouldn't go within ten feet of a mech show if I didn't think otherwise. I didn't expect it to be literally pornography, or even go anywhere, but hearing that it's actual ntr negates any reason I had to enjoy it.

That's all well and good, but if I wanted to watch a show for it's hidden depth and meanings I'd rewatch Eva (which doesn't count as mech, so far as I'm concerned). I know what I expected, and now that I know I'll be disappointed, I'm not going to stick around long enough for it to happen.

Don't know why this is so controversial, I came into the show expecting something that I now know will never happen. And so I no longer want to watch it.
