BLAME! and Nihei thread

Let us talk...
I got the 6 Master Edition volumes for my birthday last month.
Just finished reading it all. I think I liked it very much, I've never really read anything like it before.
I have some questions and I would like to talk about it with you anons

Questions from me:
Why is the level 9 so important? What I came to understand is that the sphere from the level 9 came to contain an embryo with the Net Terminal gene. Why does a level 9 safeguard have an embryo with the Net Terminal Gene? Is this explained anywhere else?

Sanakan mentions that the Embryo is hers and Cibo's child? Why Sanakan's as well? Is this maybe not because it is literally Sanakan's child as well, but because she and Cibo has wandered for so long now that she sees the embryo as her actual child that she wants to protect like a real parent would?

Also, where do I go from here? I want to read more of Nihei's work, which should I look into?

In the second to last chapter they did mention that the child was conceived of the d.n.a. of both Sanako and Cibo — I read it a decade back so I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the other details.

Redpill me on Sidonia.

Literal self-insert protagonist who gets a harem.

Nihei apparently talks about having to make such concessions to feed himself.

Blame is seminal and highly critically acclaimed and has none of the common faults like exposition or self-insert protagonists, but it actually did not sell that well, and that is, one assumes, why these faults exist.

Been a while since I read it but let me try.
>level 9
Like most things in blame! it's not explained anywhere afaik. My headcanon is that it was an emergency backup that got forgotten amidst the growing chaos

>Sanakan
Yes

>where do I go from here
Nihei made a one-shot sequel to Blame! which is worth a read. There's also Biomega which feels very similar.
Knights of Sidonia starts off similar, but ends up as a harem. Make of that what you will

What is the one-shot called?

Also, Blame! Academy, and so on has goth loli Sanakan teacher, which looks very good.
It's not really explained why a teacher would be in full goth loli attire, but I take it.

Blame!2
I also just found out about NSE: Net Sphere Engineer, which is apparently another one-shot sequel

Also, are there any similar works, not necessarily Nihei, that invoke the same enigmatic, esoteric and unfathomable atmosphere and tone of this Blame?

>ywn have a balmefu
Perhaps the true dystopia is reality

Is Biomega and Abara worth looking into?

>Just finished reading it all. I think I liked it very much, I've never really read anything like it before.
WUT, Blame doesn't have any words.

Girls Last Tour was inspired by it, according to tkmiz, the author.
It's a way different pace but a brilliantly melancholic show

Why are there 4 fucking versions of this on madokami not including the Master?

What's different about the Master Edition compared to other versions? Just the Kyrii name change and higher-quality art?

Texnholize

Master is a reprint. The only downsides (for me personally) are how grey it looks compared to the harsh blacks of the old versions, and also there are some questionable redraws.

Why was Blame and Killy the best of Nihei guys?

I want more.

The embryo was made with Cibo and Seu genes
Level 9 Safeguard was deployed when Davine Lu tried to access the Netsphere

Because it sold poorly, and he needs to make money.
Audience is too stupid.

Also try rereading but with this on the background:

Perturbator goes well with blame imo.

I can't believe it Zig Forums but I finally scored a nice clean job at Toha Heavy Industries. My life is pretty much set from now on I'll be enjoying maximum comfyness and ease.

I don't think it's quite enigmatic enough for Blame.
I imagine a Blame soundtrack would be more in line with some sort of weird droning black metal noise

>are how grey it looks compared to the harsh blacks of the old versions
Some anons here have said that's how it was supposed to be and that former ones were just contrast fucked.

Where is this from?

Noise, Blame!'s prequel.

5+ AU sized megastructure will collapse in on itself as a star. There's no indication the material it's made out of is massless for it to be otherwise.

am i the only person who genuinely likes his most recent manga

It's pretty fun I guess

I got bored quickly and can't stand how it looks.

Would be a shame id someone ruined it.

No, It's good desu.

Good work user, BLAME! is the best manga of all time.
>Also, where do I go from here? I want to read more of Nihei's work, which should I look into?
Take a bit of a break and then read Biomega.

Interesting read.

Their canon mastery of gravity tech makes that portion of physics essentially irrelevant.

Where can I read the Blame one-shot sequels anons?

MangaSee has them.

Do you think that the Sun is sitting somewhere in one of the City's megastructures?

I think the Sun is basically being used as a giant battery, so yes. What I doubt still exists is Earth or any of the inner planets, I'm almost certain they were rendered down for materials.
