Solo Leveling isn't Isekai.
They aren't in another world, they are in the real world where portals to other worlds are opening up and the portals are bringing mana into the world which is giving people susceptible to mana powers.
It's still Earth/Korea - it's not a fantasy world. They just enter portals into Fantasy Dungeons without realising why it's happening because the dungeons have valuable drops that are worth dying over.

Because just a few meters ahead they had a bottleneck that they could have easily closed off with the wall so they wouldn't need to engage in close combat with the goblins at all.
Because there are no battlements to protect them against goblins with spears or throwing weapons. Because it seems to be so thick that they are using twice as much material as they needed to.
Maybe I shouldn't have said "functional" but "practical".
