There'a basic jutsu called "Teleportation Jutsu" (Shunshin no Jutsu = "body flicker technique") which pretty much everyone can learn.
Substitution Jutsu is juts that applied to switching places with something else really fast
That would just reverse the position of both and you'd still be hit by the attack I guess

Imagine throwing your shuriken at somebody so hard that they turned into a log. Then you found out that’s where all wood comes from, and you got initiated into a murder club that makes wood. The stronger the attack, the bigger the log. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into trees and shit.

Let it be known that it is absolutely forbidden to willingly perform the technique known as "1000 years of death" on a log. Anyone with chakra control can probably withstand the enemies attempt to replace them with their technique.

If you're fast enough to run over to an object, grab it, run back to where you were, leave the object, and run back to where it was originally without your enemies able to comprehend where you are why can't you just run really fast and kill your enemy?

It's an ancient ninja meme. It's one of the 'divine techniques' that ninjas were supposedly able to use back when they were relevant. It was stylized as a log appearing out of nowhere long before Naruto.
