20th>monster>pluto>>>>>>shit>billy bat

>20th that high
not with that garbage ending

monster>>>>>>th CB

Monster > 20th Century Boys > Pluto > Billy Bat

Basically, except I didn't finish Bat.

Of these I've only read Monster and Pluto.

Monster is excellently written, but there's no revelation or explanation whatsoever in the end, even though mystery is the main hook of the series. Extremely disappointing as a result.

Pluto is ok, excellent even.

I've only read Monster and Billy Bat but I liked Billy Bat more. It was quite a while between reading them though so maybe if I reread Monster I'd like it more.

Monster > Pluto >> 20th Century Boys >>>>>>>>> Billy Bat
This dude cannot write a decent ending if his life depended on it.

Monster has one of the best endings in all of animanga actually. I would explain the ending to you but it would take too much time haha.

I suggest you have a watch of this video to understand the ending if you are interested.

Thanks. Maybe I'll watch this.

To be fair, most mangaka suck at writing a satisfying ending

I know that. I'm just seething from 2cb and bb ending given how good the first half of each manga was.

Manga unfortunately favors people who can make a 30 volume story, but not end it

master keaton > all

haven't read billy bat but the premise seems kinda silly?

Pluto > Monster > Billy Bat > 20CB
And not even because of the garbage ending, I didn't like most of 20CB in the first place

It's pretty interesting. It's a thriller like his other manga. Billy Bat is basically the equivalent of Mickey Mouse and there's a corporation behind it meant to be Disney. But the mascot is inspired from supernatural events through history and the manga shows how the characters in the story are involved in historical events like the assassination of JFK or 9/11.

yeah sounds pretty silly

It is the best manga in terms of handling the various conspiracy theories which are in the world. It does a decent job during major part of its story but fails to provide a decent ending imo. It it still the 3rd best Urasawa work for me despite a few of its shortcomings and a great read overall. You can try giving it a chance. The opening is pretty solid for Billy Bat.

so it's more conspiracy theories the manga instead of some micky mouse shenanigans. That does sound pretty interesting.

I was reading it while it was ongoing and other than the original main character actually being alive I enjoyed the ending. It might have left a bunch of plot threads unresolved (which is something you might not notice if you've been reading a manga for a long time) but the actual ending scene itself with the two soldiers helping the kid was great I thought.

It does have Mickey Mouse in it in a way but it is not silly, don't worry. The Mickey Mouse stuff is related to the conspiracy theories as well.

The Mickey Mouse mascot is a main part of the story though. If you don't like that you probably won't enjoy the manga even though it goes through various conspiracies.

The soldier part was heartwarming but the mystery of Billy Bat was a huge letdown. They never revealed the true nature of Billy Bat properly which was the main aim of the mainga.

I give it a try. Just feels for like it's a manga about Mc Donalds but they call it Wc Donalds the whole time.

Off topic but is there a reason they changed the name of america in Pluto?

Plenty of people have a pretty poor image of Disney so I don't see why you have such an issue with a manga about how not-Disney is embroiled in tons of conspiracies. Though the manga isn't as much about not-Disney as it is about not-Mickey Mouse and only part of the history of the character is being the mascot of not-Disney. The manga has all the traits of a thriller not that different from Monster and its use of real life events is pretty cool.

Billy Bat was schizo shit and all over the place.

I stopped reading Billy Bat after the Oswald arc. Does it get better?

Pluto > Monster = 20th > Billy Bat

I've only read Pluto and other than trying to write a 3 chapter ending in 1 chapter, it was pretty great.

That sounds kind of like the Stephen King novel where they time travel behind a restaurant to save JFK or something that everyone loves, so maybe it isn't shit. But I might be mixing that up with an episode of Daria.

Dancing Policeman >>> Monster = Pluto > 20 CB >>>>> Billy Bat

Actually, no. If anything the story would have improved in a major way if it ended with JFK assassination and Moon landing. It followed with yet another timeskip and another main character, weakest of all. The story took a major nosedive, lots of plot threads and early ideas were simply dropped with no satisfying conclusion.

Billy Bat doesn't have any time travel though iirc, but some characters have limited clairvoyance. The characters all live in the times covered and live through the historical events that happen. And the story sometimes plays with them in making you think about how the world may be different if those events didn't happen and such. As you can see, people shit on it a lot, and I can understand people's issues with it, but I still think it's really interesting and worth reading.
