We will never have an anime original that spans 50 episodes again

Maybe Netflix ? They are the only ones with deep enough pockets to throw it into such a risky premise.
If they worse writh Trigger or some other meme studio, they could actually make something meaningful that will make people pay attention.

Good. i've never seen a 50 episode anime original that wasn't padded with filler tier storylines.
It's more of a shame they stopped doing 6 episode OVAs. You don't have to even try to find examples of great shows in that format

What is your favorite long anime original?
Mine is Ojamajo Doremi

E7 could have been told in 26 episodes easily

Gundam can't even do a 49-52 episode series now. What makes you think anyone else will?

Well eureka sucked so maybe that’s why. What a horrible cast of totally unlikeable characters that had no reason to act like they did. It tried to do the Amuro getting chewed out thing except that it was never justified in the same way in this show. Renton did not deserve all the shit he got from that bunch of egomaniac sociopaths

Why were almost all the adults in this show so autistic? So many problems could've been avoided if they just talked and not acted like they're retarded.

How was Bones able to pull off 50 episodes?

Go back to /s4s/ fool

Of course not. Too big of an investment and production can't be cancelled half way.

I like it unironically

How can western shows easily hit 50 episodes without becoming stale as apposed to anime?

There's still Symphogear

Imagine getting one every single year.

They realized that people actually give a shit about the show even if it was made for merchandise.
Precure is cheating and you know it.

Xam'd was basically E7 but 2-cour and it turned out half-baked because it lacked the time needed to develop all the characters didn't match up with what they had.

Some anons don't like sitting down for a 50 episode long haul but that doesn't mean everything over 2 cours needs to be run into the ground.

I honestly thought amuro got chewed out way too much when they could have actually just fucking talked about it without being passive aggressive. Renton just got 10 times that for no reason.

>Renton did not deserve all the shit he got from that bunch of egomaniac sociopaths
That's the point you retard.
None of the people on the gekko-go were qualified to raise kids, they were young adults who hadn't worked out their own shit yet and stole military equipment to pursue their ideals.

>We will never have an anime original that spans 50 episodes again.
Pumping up a random light novel's sales with a low-effort compressed adaptation pays too much.

I know they weren’t meant to be likable but I couldn’t stand anyone on the show. Renton was bad enough as an MC, but the shit they put him through was obnoxious. Also, what the fuck was Holland’s problem?

>what is split cour?

Do we really need it, though?
Most 50 episode anime didn't fully use those 50 episodes, having a lot of filler episoded throughout.
Pic related is a nice example.

>There's still Symphogear

Still impressive that got 5 seasons

>why cant everyone be perfect
are you this retarded?

>I know they weren’t meant to be likable
Do you only see people with only positive traits as likable?
Do you not think that maybe, in order to make a complete character there needs to be some sort of flaw, or conflict within the characters personality?
>I couldn’t stand anyone on the show
Sure, this is a subjective point of view.
>Renton was bad enough as an MC
Renton was a 14 year old child, I can 100% guarantee that you were just as dumb or made just as many mistakes if not more than Renton did at age 14 over the course of the series.
>but the shit they put him through was obnoxious. Also, what the fuck was Holland’s problem?
Holland was raised by an aristocratic family, and his brother Dewy went to extremes trying to prove himself as the rightful heir, making everything about his nobility and will to rule. Holland was uninterested in that as a young child would normally not give a shit, and Dewy's actions lead to them losing the nobility Dewy wanted in the first place. Holland was able to adapt somewhat but his family and childhood was ruined over the infighting, which lead to Holland being emotionally stunted and forced him to grow up without learning what a proper adult should be like.
After joining the military and working under Adrock Thurston, he formed a connection with Diane. After her hand Adrock's death, he took up their goal of preserving the planet, and along comes Renton, the son of the man he admired, brother of the girl he loved, and he's the one who Eureka picked as her partner. The emotionally stunted Holland (who Talho multiple times calls a child for the way he acts) took out his repressed feelings on Renton and he got away with this because he's the leader of the group, and captain of the Gekko-Go.
Holland cared about Eureka because she was the link to Diane and her beliefs, it was like by some invisible force, Diane was saying that Holland wasn't good enough to follow after her and that Renton was better.

>Maybe Netflix ?
netflix buisness model is getting people to subscribe, not keeping people actively watching anything. all of the netflix stuff has been very short and it will continue to be very short because it keeps costs comparatively low while having a hype name attached to get people interested in using netflix at all.

>it lacked the time needed to develop all the characters
this would be a fair point except that most of the characters in eureka7
>suck
and
>aren't actually developed much at all

the few characters that are developed are really good, sure, but those shitty fucking kids or all the useless geckostate crew members like that stoner and his black GF really don't HAVE to be there. they're just window dressing

>Also, what the fuck was Holland’s problem?
imagine being cucked by fucking renton of all people and see if you can keep calm

Attached: seven.png (300x400, 9.78K)

I don't even know how it happened

>suck
No.
>aren't actually developed much at all
Fair, there's a handful of underdeveloped characters like Gidget, Matthieu, Ken-goh and the anemone squad brats. However most of the others, like Woz Hap, Jobs, Stoner, and Hilda are perfectly functional for what they are, which is background characters or like you put it, window dressing. They don't need some terribly deep story arc, especially when the characters origins are based in the hippy green peace movement which was collectively just people loving the planet and each other because 'it's the right thing to do'
The kids are fine for what they are, they're intentionally annoying because it puts you in Renton's pov. Holland and the rest of the crew were fine with the children because they never did anything that got in the way of the function of the ship, until they did. and they paid for it willingly when Renton covered for them.
