the kids in the US all want to get famous and have easy jobs, so they make Cal-arts and CGI poof-fests. to make actual anime takes grit, ethic, and long hours, which their spoiled white asses don't want to work.
at best you get crazy shit like Archer which is still cheap CGI, or the occasional experimental short. very little good animation because my poor fingers.

That was the worst audio I've ever heard in an animation video. Sparse and bland, texturally weak sound design that rarely moves or has any tracking at all, voice acting that sounds like two wasted hooligans at a strip joint, boring and repetitive score that has no connection to the tension displayed on-screen. Is this supposed to make me excited? It sounds like a fan-dub made by high school kids with iPhones.

This is why musicians should never be put in charge of directing and should RARELY be given sound design/foley work unless they actually know what they're doing. More than half of these musicians give the job of actually making their ideas sound good to actual nuanced professionals who are good at one thing, IE mixing, mastering, recording etc and all they do is provide creative input and performance on recordings. Does Kid Cudi understand what the purpose of Foley is? Does he even know what time code is?

Does Kanye West even understand how voice-acting works? Who was in charge of directing the voice-acting, did he do it himself? Because that is a HORRIBLE sign.

Peter chung, who's probably the best the west ever had, and he is amazing, hasn't done animation work in years, he teaches nowdays. All the people who actually care about animation moved on to game dev. It allows for even a small team to make content that actually has a platform that sells and every animation will be seen countless times. Lab zero alone makes all pro studios look like children playing with sand.

Japanese animators are so passionate about their work that they would starve just to animate what they want. For the most part, they would only deal with their own work, or helping other studios in japan. Koreans, on the other hand, have studios lined up for outsourcing use, where most western animation nowdays is made.

Some are vain like that, they want their work to be called anime, I'd probably point to webtoon and similar things that draw inspiration directly from anime.
The bulk of people who want to make an anime who are western are people who grew up with it, were inspired by it, and want to work with the people who inspired them.
An excellent, and non toxic example of this relationship is the wachowskis, who made matrix inspired by the edgy sci fi anime they grew up with, and went to madhouse to make an anime with matrix's themes, animatrix.
They also went on to direct the best manga adaptation to film of all time.
