What am I in for?
What am I in for?
A shinkai movie. Take that for what you will.
Climate change denialism.
Depending on your priorities this is either a Japanese soft pop album with bonus pretty animation, or a good looking animated film with bonus easy listening music
I was hoping after Your Name Shinkai would have learned how to shrink his scope down enough to get a coherent story down. So still not the case with this one? Anyways, I'll be back if this thread is still up after the movie. If not I'll make another one depending if I need to discuss it.
I can accept Shinkai's message about little people trying to be happy is sometimes all they can do. But the story he conjured up as a vehicle for said message just feels meh.
But really, you sound like you know Shinkai's work well enough that you ought to realise that gratification of your sight and listening is what you're paying for
worse version of KnN
and Hina's pit
90% chance of a cockblock. Shitkai can't fuck.
Your Name but weather instead of time travel.
Disappointment.
Some great-looking anime food, cute food eating scenes and not much else.
Based selfish ending.
>Floods Tokyo, ruins the lives of millions of people for a girl
>It's okay, Tokyo should be flooded anyway
>It's okay, Tokyo should be flooded anyway
This but unironically, the cost of life is nearly as high as commiefornia while having the highest rates of burnout and suicide worldwide. Kyoto>>>Tokyo
I would trade it all for a girl who shows me the will the live.
So I understand this entirely.
>millions of people you don't even know
Why would you even care for them?
A classic Shinkai kino
shinkai's version of ponyo
glorious waki
Worth it, but as other anons suggested, a bit incoherent story. But it's all kino!
The screenplay obviously needed another pass through rewrite, but overall it was a watchable film.
But when Joel did it everyone praised it as GOTY.
Kino as fuck
Lots of Mexicans and their families mixed with ironic weebs and some normies at my local theater near Seattle when the movie came out.
Is anime normal for latin american families? When I saw the Broly movie, it was 60% Latinos and their families followed by blacks and weebs in the audience.
A better movie than Your Name.
You'd think that Shinkai would refine his directing since his previous great film. So many ideas and scenes are recycled that it's laughable.
yeah not a fan of shinkai's cringey amv in the middle of the movie, i skip those i just can't watch
lurk more
Pure Kinography.
Lack of self sacrifice.
Hina > Mitsuha
A movie that was pretty and a good summer flick, but inferior to Your Name
*dabs on you*
Teenage melodrama for melodramatic teenagers
the flood was gradual, people moved, the world changes
pinning the weight of the world on one person is cruel, humanity needs to learn to adapt to change instead of sacrificing a scapegoat
