if you can only get 1oz of gold right now, go with fractionals. there's a premium on them, but it's not that bad.
maybe start out with 2-3 quarter ounce gold maple leafs, and the rest in silver ounces.

I just got a $6k order from Monumental Metals as a lot of their stuff was closest to spot at the time or purchase (Wednesday). The problem is that even if the spot price drops quickly the markups may not drop with them initially.
