Can someone please explain why Kakegurui is getting a 3rd season and Kaiji was left on a shelf to collect dust?
I mean... not to shit on Kakegurui but Kaiji is the superior anime in the gambling genre. So how is that Kakegurui is doing well and getting season after season while its father (or grandfather?) is left behind?
1. Please do not talk out of your ass again, Kakegurui will have another season when it is announced.
2. Kakegurui is actually better than Kaiji; also Kaiji is NOT the grandfather of gambling manga, but that is neither here nor there.
3. Kakegurui is just more popular; both on a domestic and an international level. You could make the argument that Fukumoto's work is close to an institution in Japan - if even just a minor one - but Kakegurui is the top selling manga in its genre (if gambling manga can even be considered a genre, which I do not believe). Certainly Kaiji failed to make big waves overseas - for fuck's sake, the most viewed video about Kaiji on Youtube explicitely needed to piggyback off Kakegurui's popularity. And Mad House is in no rush to produce more Kaiji-content either. You can chalk this up to KAkegurui having more mass-appeal and Kaiji being more of a niche production, or Square-Enix simply knowing how to market its titles better than Kodansha; but if you have a problem, feel free to take it up with the majority of Japanese people who choose to support Kakegurui and its spin-offs over the latest series of Kaiji.
Maybe lesbians are a bigger market than salarymen, I dunno'. Kakegurui is straight up bizzarre and I would have never predicted that it would ever find a target audience but I am wholly drawing a blank as to who Fukumoto's output is supposed to be for anymore.

>this one series in a genre got multiple seasons >but this other totally-different series in the same genre a decade ago didn't What exactly is supposed to be weird about this? What needs explaining? Hell, why are people so obsessed with bringing up Kaiji in Kakegurui discussions anyway? Nobody does this with any other genre or topic.

Because meme yandere girl with hime cut
Evan Collins
Because Kaiji fans are very insecure and feel threatened by a manga that belongs to a different genre, aims at a completely different audience and even belongs to a very different publisher.

Second season was made just as promotion for the movie. Then they stopped bothering with animated series as promotion for movies based on FKMT's manga altogether. How many fucking times this has to be repeated?
Robert Thompson
Kaiji still has more episodes,

if you're serious...then you're not only a dumbass but a new fag as well Listen close, one word: weebait Aka waifus sell

Because Kaiji's 3rd series is all about an variation on Mahjong. It's an interesting read, but from an animation stand point, it would be really boring for 9/10th's of viewers. Seriously, Kaiji enters a room and sits at a table, occasionally he'll go to the restroom to regroup, but then goes back to the table. Works in written format, but there's only so many camera angles or shots you can come up with to make that interesting viewing.

This is the reason why you will fucking NEVER see Mahjong in Kakegurui. Homura Kawamoto has smart enough editors to know what games people outside of Japan will and will not understand.
This is why he just makes a different series when he tries to rip off Saki.
Aaron Kelly
>This is the reason why you will fucking NEVER see Mahjong in Kakegurui Nah, it's no different from poker. If anything mahjong has more ways to show interesting shots than poker.
The reason you'll never see mahjong in Kakegurui is because it's too smart and waifufags who read this can't really deal with any kind of well-written game. Kakegurui is by far the worst """gambling/mindgame""" manga I've ever read. Truly trash.
Mahjong isn't that esoteric, you just gotta not be a dumbass and you'll get the basics.
Tyler Myers
No, Mahjong won't bhe in Kakegurui because nobody outside of Asia knows how to play it, simple as that. For the gambling manga enthusiast that you call yourself, you are pretty thick.
And I'm probably a better liar than you.
Grayson Long
Even if mahjong was popular oversea, it's not like the retard who writes Kakegurui would be able to actually write good mindgames around it (or good mindgames period)
It's hilarious how FKMT made one of the most critically acclaimed and iconic arc by having a bunch of old men sitting in a room for 20 years while Kawamoto needs to throw cute girls making yandere faces and masturbating every 10 pages for people to even notice his trash.
That's why I explicitely said that his editor is smart enough to keep him from losing Kakegurui's massive worldwide appeal. When your manga is translated and published in Poland like Kakegurui is, you'd be an idiot to alienate your international fans.
Justin Richardson
Joke's on you though, you don't wanna' know how many more people know about Kakegurui than Akagi.
Carson Brooks
Just admit that you are into trannies and then you can stop pretending you are some mind game expert.
Ethan Gonzalez
because Kakegurui is garbage and nips have zero taste. this has long been established

Akagi is more than popular enough, and critically acclaimed. I couldn't ask for anything more than that. I'll let trash like Kakegurui sell and get shat on by everyone with a brain, at least it's good softcore porn.

When did I call myself some kind of mindgame expert conman or whatever bullshit you're on?

For some reason you are really desperate to justify your favorite manga not selling the most on the planet, are you perhaps insecure and deep down think that it isn't all that good in the first place, hmmm?
Easton Gutierrez
>my anime doesn't have sequel >I bet X did this Show me your Kaiji BDs and manga. Did you support industry?
