Also, Takagi's bluffing 50% of the time. She's really good at keeping a poker face, but she's just as flustered as he is.

The shogi one is worse because it's just the modern trend of stalwart male lead makes female lead's plans fail every time, the exact same shit that happens with Chi and her future husband. It's Takagi, but reversed
No it actually isn't, there is back and forth between the two characters and the male lead gets mogged by the female lead once in a while and so on (emotionally and viceversa with shogi) in comparison to the cuasi-omnipotent Takagi teasing, which almost never fails. It's also much better than Takagi because it doesn't revolve entirely on its main premise (Shogi playing) in order to not get stale as Takagi, so we also get school festival, hangouts, side character interactions, special days, and so on, in less than 50 episodes.
