When did you realize that Monogatari was the best?
When did you realize that Monogatari was the best?
I WANNA FUCK THAT BIRD
Right here.
Wasn't that the first shot of the series?
there was never anything else to consider
Yes, that's the joke, but the montage of scenes from Kizu starting with the pantyshot into a bunch of intense vampire action really was a great opening to the show.
Most fans of the series, or even just Bake, would probably say the scene that solidified it as something special would Bake episode 12.
Yeah, I always liked that one. Are you for Kizu immediately after Bake, or towards the end in the midst of Owari?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Test
There is no good reason not to watch Kizu right after Bake. Before the movies were out everyone just read the fan translation. There's a reason Kizu was the first novel Vertical brought over, that's where the demand was.
so novel release order is better than Shinbo release order?
I've only ever watched it in Isin's order, but wanted to give anime release a try next time.
did anyone else who enjoyed Bake, 2nd season and Neko really dislike Kizu?
no, must have just been you, also Nise and Tsuki are better than any Neko that exists
Kizu not coming out until 2016 wasn't some artistic decision, it was just delayed. Likewise with Hana being released separately from the rest of Second Season, that was just their best compromise to make 1/3rd of the series fit in a two cour production schedule.
The only intentional major change they made was splitting up Owari with Koyomi, and in that case they accommodated for the change. Arguably it flows better dramatically, even when I watched in novel order I rewatched Koyomi 12 before moving on to Owari S2, but in my opinion it creates an ugly stumble in the storytelling where Ougi's questioning of what happened to Seishirou's swords becomes extremely heavy-handed foreshadowing rather than a post-facto explanation for Koyomi's shocking ending.
Hana after the rest of Second Season is also not the worst, maybe even less of an awkward change than Koyomi breaking up Owari. People say it makes Koi's ending shocking not knowing Kaiki's fate, but that obviously was never the intention when Nisio wrote it, and Hana also tells you that Araragi and Ougi are still alive which shouldn't make Owari's ending any less dramatic and thrilling when you're watching it. In novel order it marks the end of the first half of the series, followed up by Otori which is where Araragi's life starts to fall apart. In anime order it's simply the cap on Second Season and everyone else's story as a whole, before Final Season begins Araragi's story.
TL;DR whenever someone asks about "watch order" I just tell them to do Kizu after Bake, it's the only major trap that needs to be avoided.
If someone really likes the series they'll probably rewatch it anyway, and no matter how they do that they're bound to get a lot out of it.
Bee > Bird
I think Kizu is a great story but the movies are hugely overrated by sakugafags and milkheads. I've always liked the style they used in the teasers from around Bake's time more than the weird pink skin they went with. Feels like it's both an overproduced art project and made more to be an entry point for the series than to respect the novel's story.
based Dollposter
Tfw, I watched it wrong.
like I said, people get a lot out of a rewatch no matter how they do it, don't worry about it much
I can't remember, but I think it involved a game of twister.
Bat > Snail > *
>you might be wondering how I got here
Before I read Zaregoto.
but what about after you watched Zaregoto?
There was never a doubt
At Koimonogatari, late I know.
at least you came around
Yeah I rewatched about a week after watching the whole thing and it was surprisingly better.
The rewatch is the real watch.
