It’s on Netflix, and I’m autistically swapping between the dub and original audio because I can’t decide which I prefer (though I usually lean towards subs, I can’t decide here).
On that note, is the show even worth watching? I’ve never seen it before, I know next to nothing about it outside the basic premise, and I’m usually not a fan of run of the mill shonen (which this SEEMS to be (I might be wrong)).
Also also, if the dub is bad? If so, is it so bad it’s good? Because I’m a big proponent for really bad dubs.
tl;dr
Is the dub bad? Should I even watch Yu Yu Hakusho if I don’t care about shonen?
Should I watch Yu Yu Hakusho subbed or dubbed?
Dammit, OP! I'm gonna kick your ass!
I've not felt this conflicted about a post in a while
Not the OP, but does the anime adapt the entire manga ?
Surprisingly the dub is considered one of funi's best
JuSt TeLl mE wHiCh AuDiO I ShoUld UsE
Not exactly but it wasn't until recently that the very last mini arc got adapted into an ova
Best like, it’s so bad it’s amazing, or just solid? Because standards for anime dubs have changed a lot since 1995
the dub is really good
My rule is that if you like them equally, flip a coin and stick to it
Or alternatively you could decide that if you like both equally you just choose subs like how .5 could technically be rounded to 1 or 0, but we as humans just deiced "fuck it, it rounds up"
overrated dub
as a non burger I didn't like the voice performances at all when I heard it
Do whatever the fuck you want, dude. If you feel like the dub isn't affecting your enjoyment than you can feel free to keep swapping. Who gives a fuck what we think?
I’m too autistic about missing out on something to do this, but this is good advice thank you.
I don’t want to keep switching, I want a consensus which is superior
The dub is mostly liked by the people that grew up watching it therefore those opinions are not worth listening to. Personally I found it to be really corny and the voices not fitting most of the main cast. Also the last two arcs bring a 9/10 series down to a 7 so fucking hard. Togashi really did just straight up do better with Hunter x Hunter.
Dubs are always superior to subs. Subs are watched by faggots who think that doing so makes them much more cultured.
Advantages of being a dub chad
>Can take in the whole screen instead of autistically focusing on the bottom. Now you can soak in gorgeous art and cinematography. Now you can feel the intensity and action much more intensely as you hear someone say "fuck!" instead of reading it and translating it in your head. You have a more immersive experience especially since YYH is such a kinetic and dynamic series. Oh, you missed all the subtle genius of the fight scenes because you were trying to read them saying "sugoi!" and "yamero!"? Too bad for you fag.
>Unless you speak Japanese, your comprehension will be no greater aside from an added "kun" or "senpai" here and there which in of themselves are not that meaningful. You are basically reading what the voice actors would be saying.
>btw, the Japanese do not watch it with subs. They're drinking in the gorgeous audio and focusing on the art. You are focused on one part of the screen and doing mental translation while keeping up with scenes. Your experience is profoundly different. Watching it with audio makes it far more authentic then not.
>while it's true that dubs in the past were not that good, companies are now producing significantly better dubs with much more talented actors. People like Sean Schemmel are able to take characters like Goku and make them masculine and badass while the original Japanese makes him sound like micky mouse.
>Translation is a complex art form. While it's true that some original meaning is lost and new meaning is added, it's a fallacy to imply that you are recieviing an inferior product. By that logic, we would have to read the bible in aramaic and "War and Peace" in Russian. With a smart translator, you are seeing the same thing a Japanese would. Of course, I watch anime to be entertained, not to see the same thing a japanese person is seeing.
americuck brainlette cope
>can't read a line of text in 1/4 of a second

>Advantages of being a dub chad

Then use your own brain and come back with informed opinions on what you feel is better.
>chad
didn't even read the rest
1. If you have netflix you're a retard
2. Yyh eng dub isn't bad
The changes in art are so minor and fast that its a distraction you inferior eurotrash scum. By using a dub, i can rely on the talents of superior american actors while enjoying anime the way it was meant to be consumed. In the moment, exciting and dynamic. You watch it with subs because you are a pretentious faggot who wants to feel like you're smart. I watch what I find to be the most fun.
The japanese do not watch english anime with japanese subs, they watch japanese with japanese subs. By watching with subs, your experience is profoundly different. It's disjointed and distracted. Like drinking fine wine through a filter made of toilet paper. I sip mine through a filter of gold.
btw, Euroscum, Who's protecting your shit country from Russia again?
>[blah blah low IQ cope]
didn't even read
Dub Kuwabara:
>HEUEUEHRRGHGHG YOU'RE A MESHI GRURRGGHH
In other words, watch it subbed.
I don't watch Zig Forums - Television & Film with dubs so why would I do it with anime?
>Bestow filthy subhuman swine with rational arguments towards the superiority of dubbed anime for a superior experience
>Am met with sniveling piteous impotent wails of rage
My case is closed untermench. I'm going to message your girlfriend and tell her that I can provide her the satisfaction you never will. You can still jack off and watch us in a corner though :)
>btw, Euroscum, Who's protecting your shit country from Russia again?
Not the US.
>I sip mine through a filter of gold.
So you don't drink at all?
I prefer the dub, the voice acting is good and Yusuke / Kuwabara are fantastic. Botan a cute too
Even if you usually watch anime subbed Id say to watch it dubbed. Along with FMA and Cowboy Bebop its one of the few series that has better English performances than Japanese performances
>Is the dub bad?
Don't fall for the dub meme. There's more bad than good and the bad is painfully noticeable.
>Should I even watch Yu Yu Hakusho
No, I would never recommend this even though I did kinda like it. Force yourself through Spirit Detective Arc and then drop it after Dark Tournament
lol get out tourist
