Anyone else bored by anime? Anime feels repetitive and childish nowadays to my adult brain. It's like I only watch anime to shitpost about it here. Majority of Anime only deals with teenshit issues and coming of age themes that don't appeal to me anymore but I'm also fed up with the juvenile writing.
Anyone else bored by anime? Anime feels repetitive and childish nowadays to my adult brain...
Yep.
Im only bored of popular animes/magas that got spammed and recommended everywhere.
Manga > Anime anyway
No
not your personal blog
go watch your western netflix shit
pretty much this
Yeah. I don't understand why people only talk about popular trash here.
just take a break nigga no one's actually forcing you to watch anime
oh yeah man, we totally didnt have 3-4 anime about adults in the past year.
>Anime with adults but Character conflicts are still teenshit tier
Sounds pretty realistic desu.
>to my adult
This is retarded
same thing as calling video games a childish hobby
Retards like you shouldn't be allowed to post here. Imagine going on /o/ and saying you have no interest in vehicles and hate them all, or going on /ck/ just to say you hate food and you're going to starve yourself to death now.
dude, The point of this thread isn't to hate anime but to discuss the extent of anime appeal across age
>Anime feels repetitive and childish nowadays to my adult brain.
Because it is?
What are some adult problems?
Sex, drugs and rock and roll?
Stop coomsooming
When adults get their life more or less secured with a stable job or working career, and also have social circles, conflict goes back to be of a teen nature.
Kill yourself
Unwanted pregnancy, losing jobs, having affairs or divorcing after 20 years of marriage. There's fiction that deals with that and it's almost universally shitty though.
Sounds like you're a fag.
You're not supposed to watch anime for the plot, you're supposed to watch it for the cute girls.
>Unwanted pregnancy,
Sounds like the problem of a retard
Go watch Domestic Kanojo, it has almost all of those except for the divorce.
go to manga or read novels outside of japan
Kaos is very repetitive and childish
You have a point, adult women that get "accidentally" knocked out ussually want to ensnare a man. Change it for suddenly wanting children at 30.
then you've grown up then and lost any feelings
You answered your own question. People discuss popular things because they're popular. That's not limited to anime, it's true of any medium, especially on a general public forum like this one. Not enough people know about the less popular stuff to really discuss it here, the same way a general film forum won't usually be discussing indie or non-US films.
And you can sum getting dumped by your daughter's father, nice
/lit/ poster here. I used to think the same. Anime is just for fat weebs who masturbate to cartoons, I though. But then it happened, I watched HxH and my whole perspective changed. The thing that most struck me most about HxH is how the entire Chimera Ant arc felt like one long work of literature, like a 19th century baroque novel or a Shakespearean tragedy. It's rife with symbolism, irony, themes, and felt appropriately mature and tonally rich. Some of the passages spoken by the narrator were so beautiful and memorable (e.g. the humans in the sky line), and the narration served to create the feeling that I was reading some intricate tapestry of prose. I loved how tragic and anticlimactic the death of Meruem was, because it was richly meaningful in tandem with the themes presented by the arc; and it's because of this that I speak of him in the same way I do as Macbeth, or Oedipus, or John Milton's Lucifer. Some scenes, like the match-cut of the boots stomping on the insects between the Rose bomb used on human cities spoke to me on a visceral level, just as Classic Lit does.
>and then i watched shonenshit and become worse
If I really cared about those, I would watch soap operas and sitcoms
>or going on /ck/ just to say you hate food and you're going to starve yourself to death now.
It's more like if all /ck/ talked about was like burgers and chicken tenders and PBJs and you made a post saying you're tired of that basic crap and wished they talked about a wider and more sophisticated variety of foods.
>rock and roll
remind me of a rock band related VN I read recently where a dude commits suicide because how people music experience the effect of music is subjective lmao
This is a pretty good riff on the Rick and Morty "to be fair" copypasta.
Bored of anime, bored of vidya, actually bored of everything in general is this what becoming and adult like? or is it just depression?
I mean only a couple of series dominate the catalog. This just makes me wonder if people are even watching even slightly less popular shit
Clannad had that
I know Zig Forums is mostly underage faggots, but it's pretty hilarious how many posters here literally can't conceive of what adult life beyond high school is like, and the kind of adult problems that can occur.
I love HxH but I already watched it a long time ago. I still haven't found anything from anime that is at least half as intriguing as HxH.
Well yeah, that's my point, just how general film forums have a million discussions of the latest blockbusters or big-name older movies (and by "older" I mean like since 1980). People do watch the less popular stuff, there's just not enough of them to be noticed usually.
*how people experience the effect of music
OP, anime feels childish because it is. This isn't meant to be an insult, it's just that anime is aimed at the children-to-teen demographics. Despite what weebs tell you, even in glorious Nippon anime is considered kids stuff, and it necessarily has to be because TV shows need broad market appeal to move merch.
As others have said, manga is where you'll find more mature stories, but even there you're going to have to look outside of mass-appeal manga like what the Jump empire puts out.
