I watched it a few days ago, in fact I binged on 25 episodes straight. Honestly nothing wrong with it, the world is quite interesting and the story is entertaining. Only thing that annoyed me is the the lack of gore/ blood. Like somehow nobody loses any limbs or dies. How does the MC cut rocks with his sword but when he cuts other people it's just like hitting them with a bat? I think they are trying to cover gore/death to appeal to kids but it feels disingenuous.
The interesting magic system and characters make up for it though. Why does it get so much hate?

The worldbuilding it's appropriate and coherent. I read the manga to give it a chance. I got to the point where they went into a cave and named the bird (apparently, it's actually a girl that was transformed into a bird?) before I realized that I didn't give a shit about any of the characters, which was a dealbreaker for me, and I promptly dropped it. If I don't have an investment in any character 5 chapters in, the series is just not going to work for me.

Because the beginning was horrible. Black Clover doesn't do anything new but everything in it is form decent to good. People are too focused on its beginning and the fact that is not "original", to focus on the actual execution
I feel like I can explain this in a serious capacity rather than just trolling and baiting. people hate on black clover as an example because their favourite show is threatened by it for whatever reason. people who actually do not like black clover prefer to ignore it rather than hate on it.
another example is how fans of darling in the franx would spam up threads on violet evergarden, and still will today even those those two shows have nothing in common, they just decided it was a threat for whatever reason.
so for what purpose do they trash up threads they feel threatened by? because they know sheep-minded people will see anons trash talking the cartoon and decide this is a clue that the show is not worth looking further into.
if you ask me it is pathetic, but very fitting for the kind of people who spend their day posting on Zig Forums. my only advice is ignore everyone else and form your own opinions through experience.
