He already have a closure to the series with Gon meeting his father. Kakin's battle royale and even the DC are just side quests, it would be neat to see them completed but it's even necessary? With any story, after it ends, it would be interesting shit going on elsewhere, it doesn't mean that it's necessary to know how everything goes. Also, being Togashi, there's always a chance of "the Black Whale sunk and everybody died" so I don't care about the ending. People Is just too obsessed.

He makes sense though. A story like Berserk MUST continue since it has a clear big bad to take down in direct opposition to the MC, his friend Rickert and the Skull Knight.

Whatever goes on in HxH however won't be affecting Gon & Killua, though I admit it's a cope. Originally the protagonists were 4; Leorio was never that important but Kurapika even got his own arc and he's the reason we were ever introduced to the spiders. It's really hard to just consider their fates a side dish, but it's possible.

Good chance? He's absolutely dying before finishing the series. He's like a Western fantasy author. They aren't concerned with telling a complete story, they're concerned with having a stable income, so they hit it big and string fans along so whenever they need money they can just shit out the next 1% of the story.

The Succession Contest and the Dark Continent have been set up as two of the biggest arcs in the series. If they were both equal to the Chimera Ant Arc in length and Togashi released 10 chapters a year, it'd take 21 years to complete, and Togashi would be 75.

But

1. He's not releasing that many.
2. They'll probably both be longer than the Chimera Ant Arc.
3. There's still one or two arcs that need to happen after it.

The only way this series gets completed is if Togashi trolls everyone and we never see the Dark Continent, we get a time skip and have Gon deal with Gyro, then that's it.

it has been ongoing for over 20 years now. there is no excuse for how little the story has progressed in that time. i mean, everything up to where the 99 series (inc. ovas) ended was basically just the intro for the story, setting and main cast. practically nothing has actually happened in terms of the real story.

That makes me sooo happy.
