Baki

Is it true we're going two weeks without a chapter?
What the hell are we supposed to do, Bakibros?

I was wondering why I couldn't find raws. I don't remember them saying in last weeks thread that there was a break though but I could be mistaken

Pick a romcom and logically approach it as if it were Baki.

Educate yourself more on the splendors that is sumo wrestling. Learn to understand why it's the most superior form of fighting to ever grace this godforsaken planet. Realize the perfection that is sumo's body. Pray that you can hope to ever attain even a 10th of a sumo wrestler's strength in your lifetime

Oh yeah or you could watch hinomaru (honomaru?) sumo, it had an anime a while back.
Completely forgot about it, nice.

>Pray that you can hope to ever attain even a 10th of a sumo wrestler's strength in your lifetime
I wonder how long it'll take for Itagaki to roll back Sukune having greater grip strength than Yujiro. Hanayama was supposed to be the grip guy and we all know how that ended up

>Sumo anime
Someone source me on its name

Hinomaru Sumo
>I was right the first time, it has a sick intro too
Be the naked!

It's really just ancient Greek wrestling for some reason (at least from what we know), just with added thrusts. You can still find many techniques in Renaissance wrestling from Europe (Johann Andreas Schmidt, for example) whihc has apparently the similar roots.

Unfortunately, the striking technqiues of European grappling have not been recorded, only been alluded to ("Mordstösse" meaning "murder thrusts"), so we can't tell if it was Sumo-like, but the grappling is like sumo mixed with Judo and some Thai clinch. Some say it looks more like Jiu Jitsu though, and some books on it are so similar to the oldest Jiu Jitsu styles that there is really no question about it. The historical explanation is there for Jiu Jitsu/Judo, because the earliest schools popped up during the Sengoku era when Europeans lived in Japan.

For Sumo, which is MUCH older, there is no explanation, except the layman's imagination that all styles are kind of similar since we're all built with two arms and legs, which is of course bullshit if you compare styles today. Is there a connection to ancient Greek expansion into Asia? Nobody knows.

Another explanation is that medieval grappling and Jiu Jitsu is based on ancient Greek Pankration (basically anything goes) and Sumo is based on ancient Greek wrestling, but that doesn't explain
a) there are strikes in Sumo, but as far as we know, not in ancient wrestling
b) ancient Sumo looked more like a anything goes, ie. Pankration, but seems to be quite dissimilar to Jiu Jitsu.

The search for answers continues.

what are some red flags for boxing gyms? how do you know if your gym is good and not just some 50% cardio meme shit?

>What the hell are we supposed to do, Bakibros?
You...you aren't training right now?

I'm no expert, but I imagine any gym with pros at it is a decent gym and not a fitness gym

literally wgaf at this stage, it's turned into the kind of meme manga that's taylor-made for reddit, they may as well call it reddit dou

Whether or not they actually produce fighters would be a good start, even then though the coaches wont give you a second look unless you put in the time and have some talent.

No "big box" or franchised gyms is a decent rule of thumb. They more than likely pander and cater to normalfags. Be weary of gyms with lots of women too, it's probably just zumba-tier shit and they probably pander to them too e.g. Title Boxing Clubs
>t. ex personal trainer
>t. ex. boxing club employee

>What the hell are we supposed to do, Bakibros?
Not making pointless general threads like this one.
>Bakibros
Go back.

With sports combat it's easy: Can the gym produce high level competitors or even champions at least semi-regularly? Then they are good.

It's non-sport stuff where it gets difficult and you have to look for military, security or cop customers and what they can do.

Anyway, contrary to popular belief, there are A LOT of really shitty, really bad boxing, kickboxing and grappling gyms.

read spin offs, they are pretty great

thanks brehs. been going to a place the past few weeks on their 3 week trial deal. bit hesitant to actually sign up given the average student and the teachers. they do actual sparring if you want and have a small ring. but I don't think any of the guys really actually compete and I swear like 1/3rd of the hour class is cardio meme shit even though we actually practice combo's and stuff with the pads or just with a partner.

>I swear like 1/3rd of the hour class
>class
At the gym I go to you just go there and punch bags and shit, and if the owner likes you he'll train you and go a round or two with the mitts
I thought that was the norm, it is a small gym though

>be vewy vewy quiet, I'm kiwwing tigers

jack spin off when

fucking never lmao

>Anyway, contrary to popular belief, there are A LOT of really shitty, really bad boxing, kickboxing and grappling gyms.
well yeah, "mcdojo" aren't strictly applied to karate

Based and initiated

Jack deserves better

SumoNatto is a good channel to watch matches. Really wish I had gone to Japan when Sumo was in season, thought it would be something I could catch again in the future, but who knows now

Actually if you think about it, sumos is pretty cool, they were trained to not fall to the ground and never get pushed back no matter what. They are basically immovable objects

steroids are bad for you mmk

Honestly if it wasn't for all the self-sabotaging that occurred in sumo with the rigging and corruption I'd think it would be bigger globally

Why did Jack take steroids/had height surgery when he's a Hanma?
Baki is a manlet and he never used steroids or did height enhancing surgery and he's still much stronger
