I had a terrible experience trying to help out the manga-ka for this. He opened a Patreon last year and I offered to translate his comics for free. Most of the time, he'd ignore me and used the TL from his other translator. I thought it'd be best if we collaborated, but he would never let me meet him.
One day, he asked me if he could stop crediting me. I'm a nobody that could damage his reputation, so I gave him the okay. I also asked why he always paywalled the English comics. (They're up in Japanese for free.) That really upset him, and he told me it's because his Western tweets don't get the support to go viral.
He ended up dropping me, his last words being he hopes I could still support his work. I can't though. The anime's just a painful reminder of what happened. I used to be a huge fan of u&i. It being animated was my dream. I wish it never got axed so none of this could ever happen.
