LISTENERS

Did anyone actually watch this show? How was it? I see it has a 5.5 on MAL which is essentially a death knell. Is Dai Sata over as a writer?

Dai Sato*

Yes, he's over, MAL is the absolute judge of quality for all things anime and manga. RIP Dai Sato

I noticed they spent all the budget on seiyuus and there's nothing left to pay the writers

I blame the character designs. The girl is almost kind of cute but what the hell is that guy?

>he trusts MAL
you realize this is a site dominated by 13-16 year olds who have seen less than 50 anime

Seriously the whole site is nothing but seasonal shonen fags who think Attack on Titan is the height of "mature" anime.

right MAL is trash but if something gets below a 6 its generally garbage unless its some kinda far out art house project that nobody gets, which in this case I doubt it.

I still haven't seen the last chapters, she still has no horns, how shit is the ending?
because so far is boring as hell, my brother told me
>this is going to suck, wait until it try to be something intellectual and fail

to be fair, when everyone says something sucks, it's either because it's really bad or MD.Geist

>to be fair, when everyone says something sucks, it's either because it's really bad or MD.Geist

yes, basically that's what I'm getting at.

It is a very bland show. The first episodes are kinda entertaining thanks to the dynamic between the protagonists, but everything else (plot, animation, worldbuilding, music...) is at best mediocre. For a show about music the soundtrack is very underwhelming, though the op is really good and some eds are not that bad.

Something I noticed is if the show has giant robots and they don't matter, like having just one attack, little choreography and less than 3 minutes fighting on them. it's going to suck.

If anything, they're trying to use the seiyuus as the main attraction but not them plot

100%. If your mecha is just window dressing, and not a core component, your show gonna suuuck

The one episode that I actually liked from it was the blues one, and it had basically nothing to do with giant robots and all that. You know that something went wrong when your antagonizing force looks like vague black mouse blobs.

>MAL
But anyway, music references can't be a substitute for a good plot. Also, it needed more episodes for what it wanted to do. More episodes to explore the world, the situation and the relationship between the main characters.

MAL scores become inaccurate as popularity raises.

If something is not well known has low scores, odds are it's actually bad.

I watched it and I deeply regret it.

While it's two completely different shows, I feel some sort of spiritual connection between Listeners and Carole & Tuesday where they want to make this very cool westaboo music show, but the actual content of the show isn't cool at all, it's just some boring shit with the intended themes/references awkwardly slapped on top.

MAL sux becuz of U

Why does everyone hate MAL ? You only have to blame yourself if you look into their forums or pay attention to some shitty score system. It's like Zig Forums getting autistic over meta scores.

Because when stupid people congregate it creates a stupid voice.

I watched maybe 3-4 episodes.
The story feels lax and the animation as well. I would have forgiven the fact that the animation sucks but because of >it's just some boring shit with the intended themes/references awkwardly slapped on top
I stopped watching it.

Active Raid has a 5.5 on MAL while Air Master has like a 7. mal sucks shit

>Active Raid has a 5.5 on MAL

That is not Justice.

Do you know where you are ?

>why does everyone hate MAL when they pay attention to its core components?

We're all largely anonymous. We'll have one opinion today and come tomorrow a completely different. We're ephemeral, MAL faggots lock their shit in posterity.

I have been using MAL for years and I never paid attention to that shit. Just wanna know about Seiyuus, release information and the stuff I watched. Most forums are completely empty, the people are autistic and ratings mean jack shit. Just look at their top tier list. It's average stuff.

it's strange active raid, I enjoyed watching it but something always felt off, maybe it was the perma blush, or that red and blue weren't a good duo so when more people got introduced into suits it got better? I don't know, season 2 was a fucking blast. same with Bubuki Buranki who has a 6.33.
Talking about things no one watched and I loved to death, Majin Bone has 6.69
Meanwhile Darling In the Frank has 7.38 and Kill La Kill has 8.14 adn those show fucking sucks.
so yeah, only reason to use MAL is for archive anime you watched, look the cast behind a show and maybe some reviews if you feel masochistic.

Active Raid was wonderful and the fact that this goes unrecognized is proof of how unsalvageable the anime industry and fandom is.

Do people really need to "Archive" the list of shows they watch? Either something leaves an impression on you and you remember it or it doesn't and you forget about it wherein worst case you accidentally give it a second chance or watch it as a refresher. Also spreadsheets have been things that have existed since forever.

It's a perhaps overly ambitious show that tried to mesh together episodic stories built around one theme (song title references) with an overarching frame story. It didn't mesh very well. But taken individually, it looks and sounds gorgeous.

An 8 on MAL can also mean it's a trash show. Those scores aren't a reflection of quality, but of fulfilling the expectations of the retard userbase.

MAL is also inaccurate if you want production credits, shit for collection management and a joke if you want industry news. Every aspect of MAL is done better by other sites.

I was doing it for years, but at some point realized the same thing and stopped.

You'll like it if you like boomer rock.

What are the alternatives ? I pretty much only use it for keeping track of the stuff I watched, upcomming seasonal shows and finding related stuff.

Spreadsheet.

I only watched the first episode and it wasn't really my thing but not offensively bad.

It depends on what you want. The only thing speaking for MAL is that it has all those functions in one site, as a subpar version.

For collection management, it's spreadsheet or AniDB (no manga there though).
Credits, AniDB or ANN.
Recommendations, Anime-Planet or /wsr/.
News, Zig Forums of course
Community, pic related.
