language is one thing you can't learn by-the-book which is how they do everything. you could get a doctorate in a foreign language and not speak as well as someone who lived in the actual country for 5 years

user I don't want to spend years learning thousands of words just to watch anime. Although I can understand enough to know when something doesn't match a sub when it comes to common phrases, or in general what someone's saying in terms of how they say it.
