Is this worth the ride?
I’m tempted to give it a try with a new season coming up

No, the female main character is obnoxious. Plus the anime is really boring.

go ahead, is probably one of the few good ones.

First 7 episodes suck immense dick and l would recommend skimming over them
Then it actually becomes pretty good and entertaining

I think it is great. I used to be into MMOs and it manages to scratch that itch very well, so it was a fun rude for me. Obviously I am not very objective here but I think it is still great watch.

First season is good, second season has some really cool bits but its rushed, has lower animation quality and focus on some boring side characters.

Also the first episodes are really slow.

Its decent. Basically if you looked at sword art online and thought "this is fucking nothing like an mmo" you'll probably like Log Horizon, it's one of the very few in the genre that actually feels like it was written by a guy that wanted to use the isekai setting for the actual implications of a bunch of mmo nerds suddenly becoming superpowered adventurers in a videogame setting rather than just an excuse to roll out all the familiar tropes and give the self insert mc a cheat power or whatever. The interesting parts are the politics of the setting and how the adventurers fit into the established power structures, and the lore shit about where all the things that were just "it's a videogame" before now matter.

The first season is really good. It's an isekai that's actually interesting and explores the dynamics of an MMO if it was actually forced to function like a real society. The second season is pretty bad though. It introduces new, more annoying characters that add nothing to the plot, and on top of that it's pretty clear that the animation budget was cut to the bone. There are entire episodes where people just stand around, talk, and don't actually do anything. It's amazing how quickly the series did a complete 180 in quality. I'm worried about the third season for this reason as well.

I listened to some recommendations about it and how its a slow world building anime and decided to put up with it( the same with Steins Gate)
I understand why people place in medias res in popular shows so people wouldn't get bored after watching 7 episodes with nothing interesting happening (see Breaking Bad ,first 10 minutes are there to make the viewing engaging even though it's slow first few episodes)
Just don't hold grudges if a show has a slow start but has good (user)reviews

If you like worldbuilding then yes. If you don't give a shit about worldbuilding then don't watch.

Season 1 was amazing, I recommend watching the whole thing. As for season 2, just watch the Raid arc and after that drop it because the rest of the season was a snooze fest

yeah, the story really plays the whole "a bunch of people suddenly stuck in a videogame reality" the first part of the story, when they discover how to cook, I liked how, since they were now in a reality close to our own, they still had to cook the food in a normal way, but mixed with the videogame setting, soo only people with levels in chef can actually cook and retain flavors on their dishes, and of course, how life wanst about being the strongest nuke with legs around, and more, how to incorporate themselves into the new world.

its because he is over-reacting, its more like the first 7 episodes are entertaining then the next episodes start to develop a more interesting over-arching plot.

I literally emphasized USER reviews for first impressions on what l should watch next. I never bought The Last of Us 2 with 95 critic and 3.4 user reviews because l know critics are paid to shill something whether that be a movie,a game or anime

I think the second season is underrated, or at least not as bad as people think. It was a lot of Deen memes and the way the episodes were structured isn't as satisfying when you're watching one a week. The animation and designs were a little worse but not awful or anything, and the pacing works well enough when you're watching two or three episodes a day.
I thought it sucked when I watched it live but on a rewatch it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered. It's not as good as the first season and they definitely could have spent their time better but it's still decent.

I just don't think the group of people who like log horizon are not a minority.

my main problem with S2, is how it has like 4 plotlines going on, and just 2 are actually interesting soo you are constantly cut from the one that you care, to 2 plotlines that you dont care

Season 2 is still worth the watch despite what others say. It is a lot better than the trash Zig Forums likes.

Second season was not good because it lacks content. Only two volume of novel, opposite to four in first season.

I remember seeing NGNL, but honestly, aside from the the games where they became kings of humanity, I dont really remember anything.

The merchant guilds thriving and discovering new technologies felt like something that actually would happen.

on how the MC manage to basically create the goverment of his city, by seizing a really important asset and forcing others to comply or be deprived of it, whiel of course, he had good intentions and shit, a lot of the bigger societies in antiquiety were basically formed like that, people congregating into a place for some resource, and someone being able to declare itself its owner in some way and forming hierarchy and shit over it, that lter expands into other activities and roles as the society grows.
