Isn't this basically the point of the manga? It's about a girl with specific film tastes who thinks she's a film buff but in reality she just knows a bit more than her co-workers/people she hangs around with. She even admits she doesn't like some critically acclaimed stuff but she obviously has too much assburgers to admit she's ever wrong.

Just because the protag prefers those kinds of movies doesn't mean that the mangaka doesn't know anything about movies. There's nothing wrong with film enthusiasts who dig deeply into one or a few genres because that's what they enjoy while mostly ignoring the canon. Also, if you write a manga about it it's no huge surprise that the more recognizable and popular titles would be featured over some obscure shit. Nothing about this seems to show that he/she doesn't know movies. Even if you don't love "good cinema" you may still be passionate and knowledgeable about movies. There are some horror freaks on letterboxd with like 10k movies logged and they still haven't watched the entry level shit, because they know what they like. This manga isn't about kinos, it's about flicks. And the mangaka seems to know about flicks.

The Raid is just a well done martial arts film but beyond the surface level glitz and glam of the choreography and technical skill of the stunt performers there's nothing that special about it. The last hand to hand combat action film that really tried something new and fun in it's presentation was Upgrade. Which although is a less solid overall film than The Raid in terms of action I would argue is more consistently entertaining. The Raid and John Wick and IP man and to a certain extent Kingsman and The Protector and other such films all rely more on sheer technical skill than innovative presentation, which is great if you look at film as a performance based medium but not great if you care about originality in presentation.
