Wonderful to see a good understanding about the usefulness of slavery as more direct form and easier to employ working class.
This probably greatly reduces the amount of people and the amount of time they stay in frictional unemployment.
Isekai
Is this where he gets the dark elf?
It makes sense to acquire a blacksmith that way.
>tfw Fat Ball is dead
I'll miss him.
Slavery is "useful" to the elites, but it's not useful to the lower classes and certainly not to the people getting fucking enslaved.
Even then, odds are that free blacksmiths will be far more effective and motivated than enslaved ones.
Unless the slave has been brainwashed and conditioned from birth, slaves are only really "effective" at doing tough low-skill jobs that free men are unwilling to do in an environment where they're under constant supervision. Or sex slavery.
They can be effective at both.
Isekai slavery is unlike any real world historical form of slavery. It's not contract based debt slavery, it's not hereditary ethnic slavery, it's not any of the other variants that have appeared. What it is, is a thinly disguised excuse for the isekai protag to indulge in some super vanilla BDSM relationships with a harem of eager and consenting subs.
That's why it never makes any economic sense. The authors aren't even trying to make it work in that context. It's about the sex, and that's it.
>Or sex slavery.
>Why that’s precisely why! If a customer came to me with such hanky-panky business in mind, I wouldn’t recommend him a soul. If someone had the money to buy a slave just for some good ol’ in-out in-out, I would unabashedly tell him that a visit to the brothel would be many times cheaper and less problematic in the future.
>Of those that fall into debt slavery, there are women who are agreeable to such services in hopes of being released from their bonds even a moment sooner. But slaves like those have a tendency to fall into despair, and when the time comes, they tend to be a source of trouble. The human mind can’t be categorized so easily, so I can’t speak for all women, but that is usually the case for women who haven’t resolved themselves to sell their body.
>On the other hand, women who have properly resolved themselves to sell their body beforehand, tend to have experience working at a brothel before becoming a slave. They sell themselves to try and pay back their debts. When it comes to women like that, debt collectors can – to some extent – afford to be patient and wait for their payment. It’s not impossible for them to pay off all their debts like that too. This might come off as a bit vulgar, but there are people who don’t really care much about appearances so long as they can attack the pink fortress, and besides… It’s more money for the debtors if their customers take longer to pay off the debt. At least, as long as the money continues to flow.” [Orset]
TL;DR: willing female sex slaves are trouble.
Those without trouble would pay off their debt as prosts.
>It's not contract based debt slavery, it's not hereditary ethnic slavery,
It is both here plus penal slavery. They've no prisons, instead criminals are sold as slaves and it's master responsibility to be their warden and provide for them.
>necromancer wants to negotiate freedom of religion
would you?
>Slavery is "useful" to the elites, but it's not useful to the lower classes and certainly not to the people getting fucking enslaved.
The same could be said about being a free worker.
Not all slaves were barbarians and cumdumpsters like in america. In the old world it wasn't uncommon for royalty, skilled workers or schoolars to end up being sold to slavery because of debt, crimes or war.
if I look at a cop funny in America would I get isekai'd into a dark-haired villainess with the stats of an SMT superboss?
Free workers get paid and have a choice of where to work and what to work on, and they can use their earnings as they please. So it benefits everyone even though of course the upper classes always benefit more. In slavery, only the upper classes benefit.
>Not all slaves were barbarians and cumdumpsters like in america.
Fuck off back to Zig Forums. Also, those slaves in the "old world" hated being slaves too, even the skilled ones.
yep
>be justicefag who hates noble's abuse of power
>"slave huh, that's average
is she an American?
Slavery has different connotations during different places and times for people on Earth the same can probably be seen in other worlds.
>Free workers get paid and have a choice of where to work and what to work on, and they can use their earnings as they please
Lots of implications there
Can we have an isekai thread that isn't Zig Forums, /his/ or Zig Forums for once!?
The horny me says slave is good. The moral me says slave is bad. What to do?
>moral me
Dumb happy tank cat. Say something nice about her!
I bet she'd look good naked too.
She'd be happy to be useful in ways other than combat too.
It's impossible to talk about slavery without getting political or talking about history. So you'd have to make an isekai thread where the OP isn't about slavery.
I was going to make a Titan's Bride OP but this series updated and I like this series more.
>slapped for NOT meaning it
I get Tomo-chan vibes
heavy sigh
I wish he would try those ways.
Oof, those guys have no chill
isekai catgirls are the best.
This.
We could have an /d/ one but those aren't as fun.
We could have a Zig Forums one and discuss RTA strats to clear isekais.
