Why did this not get a second season? Had the same appeal as konosuba. Its been almost 7 years.

A Saudi Arabian prince is literally doing that right now, actually. Mecha and space opera anime were extremely popular in the Middle East between the 1970s-1980s (Go Nagai and Leiji Matsumoto are arguably bigger there than they are in Italy).
He wants to create and fund a Japanese studio dedicated solely to bringing back 2D mecha, super robot shows, and romanticist space opera and is trying to push for modern adaptions of stuff like Captain Harlock.
