Why was Pokémon allowed to become more popular than Digimon?

I watched all 5 eps of the new anime, and this is so much more hype than anything that other show has done in the last 20 years.

Digimon adventure 01 >>>>>>>>>>>> Digimon 2020

This has no soul. Showing off the kids one by one is retarded. I feel like agumon is unlikeable irritating, spoiling so hard their emblems from the first ep is also ridiculous

Because a franchise is more than just it's show. Also Pokemon came first and greatly benefited from the headstart.

why are digimonfags so obssesed with pokemon?

Pokémon's original source was a handheld game, Digimon on the other hand is based on a tamagochi-like thing.
And while I haven't seen the new Digimon anime yet at all, does Kabuterimon really say "Koshiro-san"? Didn't he call him "Koshiro-tan" in the original series? Or is it just the subbers being subbers again?

Probably because anytime we bring it up to people, it's dismissed as a Pokémon ripoff.
I'm a fan of both, but it's hard to not create a complex about one while discussing the other when every attempt at an external exchange about it for 2 decades has led to a reference of the other.

In the original anime they started the same showing an evolution per episode, so it makes no difference if they do the same but kid + evolution desu, it's predictable and annoying no matter how you look at it.

That's different. The interaction between the kids was what made it so superior to the common anime, its not about the evolution per chapter but the character themselves

Pokémon’s popularity comes more from the games than the show.

They're still meeting and interacting, till they get together.

The games are ass, the popularity came from the pokemania, when the world meet pokemon they came with anime, toys, games and other merchandising, it was huge.

Inferiority complex

the timing, it's all about the fucking timing

Nah, gen 1 were the best handheld RPGs you could get. People who didn't even like JRPGs would play them. Extremely accessible for people of all ages and weren't bogged down by stupid mechanics. The recognizable and iconic designs also were extremely important. The anime and the game were symbiotic and helped each other out. The anime was also dying in popularity by the time they reached Johto, so the momentum forward was carried much more by the hype for the games. I loved Digimon as well, but the games were extremely convoluted by comparison.

Liked both but the Digimon World game was almost impossible to play as a kid fun but impossible.

What I remember from when I was a kid:
Pokemon
>Game gives this fantasy of collecting monsters, trading, training and giving orders to a team of pokemon, where you feel like a badass
>Anime was cool too
Digimon:
>The kids are glorified cheerleaders for a single digimon
>No team building, no training, no strategy, no collecting
>Super convoluted rules for evolution where somehow the same monster evolves from multiple monsters and into multiple monsters several times and they don't even look like their evolutions
>Never knew a single kid with the games, don't even know if you could fight against other people and trade
>Anime was ok I guess

If we are talking about soul and quality digimon beats pokemon by a landslide.
If you want to know why pokemon is the more popular one its not that hard to see
>extremely aggressive advertising campaign, one specifically targeting educating children to learn the pokemon world just as if they were learning counting
>super multimedia with more content than you can experience withing a single lifetime
> a bunch of "leaked" "secrets" every now and again that would drive endless eyes to the products
>an very well constructed escape fantasy with a world far different from our own.
>blurring the line of real life and fiction

Digimon is far more creative, more mature, had a lot more quality artists working on it over the years, more aesthetically coherent and pleasing, but its a work of art, not a lifestyle.
While pokemon has a lot of great moments, it would gladly put the story on the back burner in favor of shoving in more of its world or being easy for kids to get, punches that digimon never holds back on.

>The kids are glorified cheerleaders for a single digimon
>No team building, no training, no strategy, no collecting
what game(s) is this even referring to?

Typical low iq pokefag getting filtered by DMW1 and Adventure kino.

DMW1 user. I'm replaying it right now after watching Korone played it a few months back.

Better games and merchandise.

Pokemon is more appealing to kids due to its colorful simple gameplay style and easy understandable pattern so it works well for autist children who seem to be the most, so they grow liking it.
Digimon is too chad for kids.

Nah b, you got it wrong....

Pokemon
>game is kinda shitty and you wish that is more like the anime and you could go on cool adventures and have races etc....
>Afterward the N64 models got recycled up to the Wii games
>Another developer makes another imagining of the pokemon world and it is far better than the horseshit that are the gamefreak games.

>anime is alright, then you realize it's endless shilling dogshit and gets worse until time

>Special manga was alright and honestly should have been the basis for the game and did a much better job of fleshing everything out.

>Inb4 gb game
Final fantasy legend games had all the adventure of an animated series in their game boy releases

Digimon
>missed the first game because I couldn't find it , second was a dungeon crawler where you had to fuse your dudes together to progress

>third was the usual type of rpg, digimon felt like party members more than swappable tools and they actually followed you.
Wasn't the best rpg, but better than pokemon games

>anime tales are varied from a warped isekai experience to sentai warriors, to mecha show that all have solid arcs and conclusions

>v-tamer was just as interesting as the anime

Nah man, Pokemon is pretty shitty in comparison

The franchise as a whole. Digimon is just a regular anime series with a beginning, a villain and an ending. Pokemon has the competition and collection aspects as the real draw, that is what allows it to be a big franchise, kids want to fantasize about being the best trainer, having all pokemon, building a team with only their favorites, etc. In that way, Digimon has nothing to do with Pokemon. Pokemon has more in common with things like Yu-Gi-Oh or even Medabots.

>While pokemon has a lot of great moments, it would gladly put the story on the back burner in favor of shoving in more of its world or being easy for kids to get, punches that digimon never holds back on.
The thing is, the plot never mattered. I asked my parents to buy Pokemon Blue because my neighbor had Red and I thought I needed Blue to get Blastoise to beat him. Girls were buying Pikachu plushies because he is cute. All my friends had the TCG and it was kinda competitive. No one gave a single fuck about the plot, at most I wanted to know the lore behind Mewtwo so it felt cooler to catch him. Digimon doesn't give you that. Something like Yu-Gi-Oh as I said, does.

>gen 1 were the best handheld RPGs you could get.
It was worse than Link's awakening on the same console

that is not an RPG though

final fatnasy legend 2 & 3

Same as Mario and Sonic, Sonic and Digimon were created for edgy teens

better

stop being white washed.
It was made to be a male analog for tamagatchi's.

The reason why they look "edgy" is because the three artists Akiyoshi Hongo, were inspired by the designs of the previous generation's Kaiju films.

Coming to that conclusion is what a fat white girl would make.

>Made by Toei
fuck off, shill !

wsn't better than those, pokemon kinda lacked excitement, there was really nothing of interesting occuring

I just said that because those are actually RPGs

Reminder to hide and sage all Toei threads, don't relply to to Toei shills.

>I feel like agumon is unlikeable irritating
Did you watch a different show? There's nothing about Agumon: that could even be considered irritating.
