Those who understand Japanese, something I've been wondering. Is the quality of acting in Japanese dubs generally the same as English dubs and we just can't tell because we aren't familiar with how the inflections are supposed to work?

Japan is the one country in the world that does animation first and voice acting second.
So, technically speaking, all anime is dubbed.
If you watch one of the few anime that wasn't done like that (Cipher the Video, Red Garden), it'll become immediately obvious how much better it is for conversational dialogue.

will anyone ever replace sub episodes (uncensored) with dub audio (i know dub cut some episodes as well)? i dont particularly like yugioh but i'd watch/rewatch, but then i remember all the cleavage and stuff is cut and then i dont want to, and i dont like yugioh enough to sit and read subs

It's better. Compare english anime dubs to english dubs of higher budget productions like disney animated movies or something, and you'll see that disney gets way better actors than anime. But in japanese, the voice actors in anime and in higher production value stuff are the same. Anime producers pay a lot for good voice actors most of the time

Cartoons sound good, anime dubs are mostly vomit inducing. And I'm talking FMA, Cowboy Bebop not the bottom of the barrel dubs. From those I've heard only Black Lagoon is great and better than jap dub.

It doesn't matter because anime voice acting is overacted garbage. There would be no difference between a rookie VA and a superstar VA, the only reason studios keep hiring expensive VAs it's because otaku watch and buy whatever garbage their favorite VA appears in.

Compare that with English dubs, where bigger budgets actually gives you better acting/singing, translations, etc.

Why? It makes more sense to animate the scene, even if uncolored, first and let the VAs watch it a few times to understand the feel and eotion of it to better put themselves in the mind set of the character they are protraying to best emote as the scene requires.

That is why storyboards exists.

Quality animation needs the sound first. So they can animate the mouth movement acordingly.

Anime has no isue with this since all they do when they speak is open wide their stupid circle mouth.
And with monsters they don't even bother to animate at all. See how digimons talk, it's like a child playing with toys doing the talking.

Is the character sad? Does the character sound sad?Yes. Good voice
Is the character angry? Does the character sound angry? NO. bad voice
Why does it matter what language they are speaking.

Japanese really doesn't translate well into English. Reading subtitles and hearing the Japanese voices is fine, but once you hear those subtitles vocalized into English you realize just how cringey anime writing is.

Dubs instead suck 90% of the time, only good ones are those dubbed in the 90s in Italian and a few in english.

Look at English dubs like Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing Ultimate, few others - They're really top-tier stuff and sound great even in english dub. The source japanese audio pretty much always sounds that good

Clearly the best dub is Ghost Stories
