ok.
_alright
looks like shit. Going to pass.
I liked the OP. I'll watch after I wake up.
Don't care
interesting. i usually find disaster stuff pretty fun.
Now:
>“Compared to even five or 10 years ago, you see a lot more foreigners in Japan,” says Choi. “By making Mari from the Philippines and the leader of the family as they move forward, we wanted to portray Japan’s increased diversity, as well as challenge traditional gender roles. It was a way for us to achieve better, more modern characterization.”
No thanks, I'll stick to the more faithful adaptations of the story.
Why Philippines?
thanks for posting this info
even as a Filipino, I hate when dumbasses like these fuck with the source material
I will now skip this surely garbage adaptation
>s-she's from okinawa
Some of you retards were too quick to defend it and you' got BTFO'd. Fucking Netflix forcing shit again.
Pretty sure this one is down to Science Saru, not Netflix. The studio is run by a foreign woman and is full of foreign animators hence their preference for diversity.
She was originally from Okinawa but now she's Filipino?
>bingeshit
It's DOA
Doesn't matter
the problem is still the same
Changing one of the family members into a non-Japanese just fucks with what is supposed to be a deeply Japanese story
It's quite obvious the anime staff have gone for a more modern take on what it means to be Japanese where Japan's urban centers are slowly becoming more diverse in its ethnic make-up.
Are gender roles still a problem in Japan? Like anime seems to be the last place with a back to the kitchen mentality?
When people saw that the character was darker skinned, some assumed she might be from Okinawa. In actuality, she's from the Phillipines.
IT'S HERE
The show uses only the premise of the original novel though.
don't care
not gonna watch pozzed media
((((Jews))))) did it
Doesn't matter to the average Zig Forumsnon, they've constructed this idealized view of Japan in their minds as some pure wonderland where's there's no foreigners or outside influence at all. Showing them a brown person is like Kryptonite, they crumble into a flurry of nonsense buzzwords
What do you mean?
Doesn't kind looks very boring visually?
I's just me but the flash undetailed style that Yuasa uses a lot lately doesn't fit a realistic drama.
Okiura will have been a better choice for a story like this.
>this
>yuasa
>netflix
Garbage
>The studio is run by a foreign woman and is full of foreign animators
So this is what is wrong with Saru
>“Compared to even five or 10 years ago, you see a lot more foreigners in Japan,” says Choi. “By making Mari from the Philippines and the leader of the family as they move forward, we wanted to portray Japan’s increased diversity
Oh god, they do it now, first fukushima and now this.
it's all so tiresome
Don't care if the show is good
