Depends on the arc, talking only about the anime the spider arc is unusual because it ends in a really anticlimatic chill manner considering the build-up and the chimera ant arc is pretty far removed from a typical shonen storyline in most ways. The rest of the anime is mostly typical shonen stuff though.
