Manly protagonist

How come wsj doesn't have any adult male protagonists anymore? hnk is one of the most successful manga of all time, jojo was pretty successful and even toriko did decently well.

Manly protagonists are gay
I love cute girls so I prefer cute girl protags or shows with many cute girls

Faggot

Because the magazine caters to women now. Toriko failed for featuring men despite being the best Jump manga of its era. Even its "feminine" man in Sunny was still quite manly and his femininity mostly showed through his personality rather than his role. Anyway, Jojo never really had adult protagonists though. Most of Jump's protagonists were adult in maturity and appearance but not necessarily in-universe like Momotaro, Taison or even Takeshi and the actual adults could be quite immature like Saeba, Gintoki, Tar-chan, Goku or Luffy.

fuck WSJ
post more HnK

Because people can't self insert into manly protagonists

>Because the magazine caters to women now.
This guy gets it. The industry is carried by fujobucks now.

It's not necessarily a Jump-only problem though. The entire industry uses teenagers now, even in seinen.
You bring up Toriko doing "decently well", but it doing worst than stuff like Naruto and Bleach despite the big marketing push it received was the last nail in the coffin of the manly MC if anything.

>How come wsj doesn't have any adult male protagonists anymore?
They do. Read more manga.

Time Paradox Ghost Writer, Hard-boiled Cop and Dolphin and Undead Unlock feature adult male lead characters.

By the way, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has never had a man over the age of 20 as the main character.

The world is full of soft faggots nowadays

>and even toriko did decently well.
It was shilled to hell and back, if it was organically popular people would still be talking about it and merchandise would be going strong, like the very example you brought: Hokuto no Ken, Toriko has been completely exorcised from the public’s eyes.

I blame Deku

Japanese economy and society from 80s was more optimistic than today
Now the anime consumer just wants to forget about their lives

Shounen = boy
Teens want to relate to a character with the same eteria range.

That's why isekai is full of manly men, right? Let's face it, Japan just can't handle protagonists with an actual character anymore.

Shonen used to be inspirational, teaching boys how to become men. Now it wants them to become women.

I miss when these shows had Main Characters look up to, instead of main characters to self interest to

>Because the magazine caters to women now
yeah that was kinda true
>The industry is carried by fujobucks now
the younger protagonist part still applies to WSJ more than the industry as a whole, many of the fujo favorite protagonists are adult men

Any examples? I don't watch stuff with too many guys

the most recent one that got big with nip fujos while having an adult protagonist was yuri on ice, Yuri is 23 and 24 in the show, tiger and bunny's MC Kotetsu is 35 and is now in late 30s, nip fujos love Gintama and Gintoki is in his 20s, etc

In S2, the T&B protagonists will be almost 40 and 30 respectively. Probably the oldest "major" protagonists in years.

Remember when shounen MCs also had flaws other than "dumb" and "low self-esteem"? Good times.

>In S2, the T&B protagonists will be almost 40 and 30
kinda, if it really is set after the second movie then tiger should be around 38 and bunny around 27 in it I think

This manga aged like fine wine.
It blows my mind the attention to detail given how simplistic was the manga during its time.

Roronoa Zoro is manly as fuck
One Piece is full of giant extremely swole dudes with gorilla proportions as well

i'd argue that they mc for undead unluck is pretty manly

OP post said Manly protagonists probably meaning buff dudes
Luffy is the protagonist not Zorro or the side characters

Only Gintoki is from WSJ though, Yuri on ice and Tiger and Bunny are anime originals

Yeah, I'm still amazed that HnK was a weekly series. Tetsuo Hara is a master.

How about you lurk more?
The reason is obvious -- so readers can self insert.
>If I was in another world I could do the same things he can
>wow he is literally me
etc.

yes, that was my point here that WSJ may have a lot of younger protagonists but a lot of fujobucks in the industry also come from adult MCs that aren't from WSJ

Shame that the man is nearly blind now.

it is kinda funny when you see some people try to self-insert in Kotetsu and get confused when he doesn't meet their expectations of wanting young girls, etc

Deku is unironically manlier than kenshiro. He also cries less.

He pretty much doesn't notice women or that he is attractive in general

If we're pretending that they had character as opposed to being The Badass, then sure I'd agree with you

>jojo was pretty successful

He also had to work to improve himself as a person. This is like the kryptonite for self-insertfags.
