Actual romance between main characters

I wish Hori is my wife.
Also is this still going or did it already end?

God fucking no. I hate it so fucking much. Is fluff without depth. The people featured (at least from what I remember) are people with good family, loving family, they are loved, and they got a good life, they have no flaws except if you count their "hidden" secret, which is just another layer of gap moe. Empty love I call it.

>still no TV anime

It entered that "we don't know how long it will be popular but it's popular enough now to drag on for as long as possible" -phase so it lost any pacing structure. You can now essentially ignore anything and everything that is going on until they get word that it's their final arc and then you can tune back in for that.
It was fun premise but it's not one that works well with an indefinite extension.
Wish romance Mangaka had a culture of series of short stories instead of just latching onto one hit.

I agree, almost feels like how Nisekoi was where it was cannon filler for 100 chapters, obviously not that extreme but it’s there.

I really only enjoy the Hori x Miyamura chapters these days, too many side characters to really give a shit about all of them

Its pretty cute

user do you think you can't have romance without some sad tragic backstory, sometimes life isn't as melodramatic as you want it to be.

Also, the characters do have their fair share of personal problems but nothing so crazy that their problems become their character traits.

Yeah, I can't make myself care about the side characters at all. The beginning was alright, though, it's a really cute story.

And there are lots of one-shots and shorter stories out there, they just don't get that popular.

Snow white with the red hair is also in the same spot, and a few others I'm current on who's names escape me. Romance Manga in general are overlong by 50-80% from the ones I've read - and that doesn't mean you can't have a long romance manga - but there better be a purpose to the length.
Problem is a lot of them anchor in either Highschool or a proxy for Highschool so the mangaka has to all of a sudden put the breaks on the 3 short years they have to show story development - which means they are limited to 3 summer breaks/festivals, 3 chrismas/new years, 3 valentines days and 3 sets of birthdays and just one-ish "entrance exams (university)" drama.
So the writing devolves into "timeless" no-time-marker dramas that avoid signifying the passage of time.
People sometimes critique Mitsuru Adachi for writing the same story over and over - but in reality that's the smart play - re-set the story and trust in your fans to follow you and be able to read and embrace a new set of characters.
Maybe I'm asking for too much.

Most overrated shit ever.

Slut

Really don't like how Hori and Yoshikawa wear shorts underneath their skirts.

The only reason i follow this manga is for the Toru-Yuki relationship

Its good. Stopped being a romance and started being a slice of life though so i don't really follow it much anymore.

I'm still waiting for Hagiwara to draw Yanagi's parent backstory.

It's cute but nothing ever happens. That and the original premise went down the drain like 100 chapters ago. I remember it being something about miyamura having tattoos or something.

Well, they can end it anytime they want. The important event left from the original 4koma is only the proposal and graduation. Might as well see how long they can milk it.

I love how the uniforms are drawn in this manga. They look really good.

It's good but lately it's just focusing on the side characters and the slice of life a bit too much. Not that it's bad but it feels like they're just dragging things out.
Reading the thread I find myself in agreement.

>It's another thread of people bitching over a romance / romcom

I will never understand why Zig Forums reads that garbage, or why is that garbage allowed to exist in the first place: it's the only manga / anime genre that actively makes the audience miserable.

You don't bitch about something because it's bad, you bitch because you wish it were better. If no one's bitching, it means no one cares.

>You don't bitch about something because it's bad; you bitch because you wish it were better.

False. People bitch about romance / romcom works because they consider them to be shit (and still gorge on it).
I've never seen Zig Forums or any internet community been happy with any work belonging to that genre and there isn't a single day without a thread or threads on Zig Forums whining about one.

Yeah, but I do wish it would have ended by now.

It's fairly obvious that Hori is pregnant right now, and has been for weeks/months. How she's probably going to be visibly pregnant long before their graduation. This is a manga that actually would have been just fine with a time skip.

I also think, that because this has gone on so long:
1. Miyamura is practically bi-polar, settling on "shy queer" as his main personality
2. All kinds of side characters I do not give a single shit about have gotten WAY too many chapters
3. Hori STILL acts like an insecure bitch that cannot comprehend how to be nice, and that's not good for a story about two people who are already explicitly in-love and have a future of marriage. It's not good, because that marriage EASILY ends in divorce, at this rate. Except, "manga."

But, once again, I will say that I do like this manga. It's great, especially in the beginning. And the chapters exploring these two's relationship and what they like is fun, humorous, and surprisingly heartwarming. But it's gone on far too long.

I've always liked it but it should have ended ages ago. I like a lot less now that it's just meandering filler but since the main couple has been together for a long time there's no investment or commitment so I can't really be bothered to bitch like a lot of people in this thread.
Their relationship is so weird, they're kind of together but not really. They need to stop fucking around since they're the only thing left to give a shit about.

I enjoy it, my main issue is that I feel they missed quite a few opportunities to add depth but it's amusing and genuinely puts a smile on my face when I read it on occasion

>Romance Manga in general are overlong by 50-80% from the ones I've read - and that doesn't mean you can't have a long romance manga - but there better be a purpose to the length.
It's weird how if you want compact Romance stories, you pretty much need to read hentai.

Yes, but outside of Miyamura asking to marry Hori I don't think there's been any actual plot progression
though I am a sucker of side character developments so Yoshikawa and Toru doing whatever is fine enough for me

I read it, still, but it's gotta stop.
Miyamura's issues have evaporated, but Hori's all seem to remain...not that she ever had issues to begin with.

The beginning made it seem like Miyamura was an only child with a single mother and was emo as fuck, while Hori basically "'didn't have parents" but played the mommy-older-sister role for her little brother.

Except, Miyamura ended up basically fucking RUNNING the bakery he nearly fucking owns and is fine (solving all his social issues within, like, 3 chapters)... Hori DOES have both her parents, they love and support each other a lot, they're just weren't home as much due to their work schedules. Which, now they're constantly home anyway. Not that it matters, she's basically 18-years-old and about to marry her boyfriend and move out. She's just a bitchy tsun with barely any dere.

I stopped reading for a few months, and when I tried to resume, I got confused as fuck because I can't remember who any of the characters are aside from the main couple and their relatives, and the fact that all the male characters look similar doesn't help.
