The problem with Toyotaro's fanfiction is it doesn't insert thought-provoking nuggets of philosophical and eschatological nuance for the intellectuals. The anime has these by the gamut, but it's also targeted for those with more keen and analytical minds. By contrast, the manga is targeted towards the simple common rabble. It has no substance.
