It doesn't get more chuuni than this, does it?
>literal mythological name attacks
>black coat utilitarian assassins
>insect rape
>evil church
>tragic backastories everywhere
>modern setting convined with magic shit
It's pure otaku hell. No wonder it's so popular
It doesn't get more chuuni than this, does it?
Chuuni visual novels belong in the trash with shounen and isekai. Only good one is the deconstruction Dies irae.
Oh good I'm not the only one that thought this was shit
i love it
Literally all Urban fantasy is incredibly Chuuni by default. Harry Potter, Dresden Files, Twilight, World of Darkness, it's all basically in the same boat regardless of quality. At least Fate Stay Night, and Tsukihime for that matter, were trying to make a actual thematic point.
Like, I enjoy Urban Fantasy as a concept. But there is no reason to do the whole "SECRET MAGICAL WORLD!" thing if you aren't trying to tap into the part of a Nerd's brain that wanted to be a Jedi as a kid.
It has so many creative concepts and ideas that are completely fucking squandered due to the juvenile plot and waifubait. Its fucking annoying.
Yeah it's super cool isn't it?
I mean, there is nobody stopping you from just taking the idea and doing something else with it. Fate didn't copyright the idea of mythological heroes fighting with each other.
>doesn't get more chuuni
Read Dies Irae user, that whole novel is like if someone read Fate and went "this is nice, but it could be more chuuni"
And I love every second of it. Why would you watch anime if you're not a chuunibyou otaku. Makes no sense
Literally all speculative fiction that isn't incredibly dry is Chunni as fuck.
Ik but it's just the little things with fate that irk me beyond believe.
For instance take Gay Bulge
supposed to be a spear that "rewrites causality to hit its target" but never fucking hits anyone dealing any damage
little plot holes like that annoy me
they aren't really plotholes per se, its just Nasu's autism. He likes to bring up shit like that only to later say "well ackshually, it didn't work because x" as a "twist"
Cu uses it about two times in the entire visual novel if I remember. The first time is mostly just to establish that luck is a really good stat, and the second time Archer blocks it using a legendary shield.
I'm also pretty sure it does actually seriously damage Saber during the first fight. Even if it doesn't kill her outright.
Blame Urobutcher
Kind of incomplete. Gae Bolg is used in two ways as a noble phantasm by Lancer. One is the mentioned anti-personnel curse that pierces target's heart and the other one is an anti-army variant that's basically just a brute force throw. The 2nd lacks the time reversal property. It's basically a bullet and as such it can be blocked by objects. The 1st one should be blockable too, but the point is that the rules of how these work are different and to conflate both would be a mistake as they have completely different effect. And yes, it's been pointed out that it took Saber a couple of days to actually properly heal the damage caused by Gae Bolg even if she seemed to look fine on the surface and could even fight.
There also were other instances where Gae Bolg was used to curse someone, but it was mostly off-screen.
Ah, I see. It actually made more sense than what I can remember.
Still mad Cu doesn't have the Warp Spasm though. I guess his Berserker version would.
It had soul, well at least the vn's did
I'd say KnK was more chunni
FZ tries way too hard to be dark
>the characters are uninteresting tropes and edgy for the sake of being edgy. Most of the characters in Zero are characterized as much as Kuzuki is.
>Maiya and Irisviel died (OMG SO TRAGIC)!! I don't care, they both had like 10 lines each. Tohkiomi's wife got killed by Kariya? TRAGEDY SUFFERING WOMAN WITH 5 LINES DIED MASTERPIECE KINO
>absolutely terrible fights. Lancelot vs Gil is dogshit and Lancelot also gets killed off screen. Servant fights are somehow worse and less flashy compared to Kiritsugu fights despite Servants being mythological beings with magic powers
>FSN characters are more competent as Masters compared to the entire cast of Zero despite being teenagers with little to no experience
>Lancer is another bro Irishman who curses and injures Saber in their first encounter, disobeys his Master, and then kills himself due to a command spell.
FSN is still chuuni but at least it has entertainment value
>retarded naive MC but at least he grows as a character compared to Kiritsugu
>mystery elements and a great guessing game. Can't figure out who Rider is? Have fun playing for 80 hours and finding it out in Heavens Feel
>Servants are actually threatening other than purple Jobber
>Archer wears a retarded trench coat despite being alive in like the 2030s. Goes back in time to kill himself and prevent himself from existing
>the nicest girl actually has a TRAGIC BACK STORY AND TURNS INTO A BLACK AND RED EVIL SHADOW THAT IS SUPER STRONG AND KILLS HER BROTHER WHO TRIED TO RAPE HER
>characters are actually entertaining, iconic, and have personalities despite still being tropes
Played the VN then watched Zero afterwards. I still don't understand the love for Zero from both normies and Zig Forums when the whole show was boring as fuck aside from Rider. Even the butchered UBW adaptation was better than Zero
I'm not sure how you can like the VN or dislike Zero
literally the only good piece of fate related media is Zero
Oops I forgot to mention that illya mind control doujins are also good media
Thank you, Zerotard
Very cool opinion
because you enjoy fate for different reasons, the people who already read F/SN before knew what Fate was about and how it played out. Zerofags who only watched Zero think that that's how the franchise should be, despite F/Z being only a prequel that came years after the original.
I hated the characters. I knew how the War would end up, but it still disappointed me how most of the Servants had 10x more personality than their masters, and 3 of them were already established characters from FSN for God's sake.
Kiritsugu's backstory is boring and dreadfully out of character.
>girl goes nuts and eats chickens alive
>asks him to kill her
>PRIEST SAMA SHE NEEDS HELP
>Find out Dad is the one responsible for causing zombie bullshit
>magdumps him with a pistol with zero hesitation because "he can turn his emotions on and off" despite being a 6 year old
Kirei is based as always but every other character has ridiculously little development. Hell, even Ryuunosuke and Caster have more development than most of the cast despite dying halfway through the story.
How can you describe Maiya's character? Being a sidewhore for Kiritsugu despite them kissing literally once and then she is never doing anything other than shooting people? I watched Zero like a month ago and I still can't remember anything about Irisviel. Assassin was more memorable despite him "dying" like 5 minutes into the War.
What about Kayneth? The only character traits Kayneth has is being a generic "I am talented and have a powerful family, you are a pathetic commoner Waver-kun". His wife is more interesting but also dies, sadly.
Kariya is a copy paste of Shinji except for being as hateable and despicable as possible he's as pitiable and TRAGIC SUFFERER as possible.
Tohkiomi is the spitting definition of MUH KEIKAKU and he literally does nothing throughout the entire story except for burning Kariya and talking to Kirei.
Kuzuki could probably pass as a Master in Zero and people would love him because he's a mature adult badass with a dark past.
And this is not even mentioning the abysmal fights. Wow so cool Lancelot flies Jet and shoots at Gil, repeat for 10 minutes. Saber and Rider hit parts of Cthulhu for an entire episode and then a shitty Excalibur? Lancelot dies off screen?
I love Fate/Zero and I love Fate/Stay Night. I think they're both very enjoyable in their own ways! Thanks for listening
I take it that you never read Boogiepop, OP?
>Characters just think up their own powers
>Ability categories
>"Chrollo Lucifer"
HxH is chuuni as fuck
Its disgustingly chuuni but for some reason I love it anyways
the rooftop fight blew my mind back in 07
nigga you're throwing stones in glass houses
Bump
Tsukihime is king of the chunni
