In Haibane threads its often posted a Noel image(edited dream) with the legend "So ra no woto is haibane done right" just to shitpost and start discussion, and latter another gif is posted to support this that is like a circle that goes snwt> haibane > veg > and it completes the circle...

I see. I'm not a fan of Haibane so I never look in those threads.

I thought it was just a friendly joke at first, and that most people like both shows. But apparently some of them really mean it...

Why?
If not for haibane I wouldn't have know snwt, haibane has a really good ost and has a similar setting to the former, only difference is that you never understand the world the haibanes live in and you have to conclude a lot of what happened by yourself rather than been explicitly explained by the author like snwt

I didn't exactly dislike it, I just thought the world of Haibane was too metaphoric and, frankly, obviously an allegory for purgatory. That's how I saw it at least.
The world of Sora no Woto, on the other hand, is more based in reality rather than metaphor which leads to a more authentic feeling of the unknown.
I also liked the down-to-earth feel of the story of SnW. Haibane just didnt seem to stick in my memory at all whereas I find myself thinking about SnW all the time.
