So why do you guys wank Nen so hard? Its basically nondescript "energy" like Ki or Chakra but with 6 power types. Over-explaining shit doesn't automatically make it good. You can make pokemon type advantages sound deep and complex if you stretch out it's explanation like you're writing an English essay.
So why do you guys wank Nen so hard? Its basically nondescript "energy" like Ki or Chakra but with 6 power types...
Pokemon advantages are one of the deepest power systems ever made, though. Just not as good as Nen.
This.
because don't tell anyone I told you this, but it's funny to watch people get mad.
Nen is Shit
Nen was actually pretty good in the context of the arc it was introduced in. But now its "DUUUUUDE STANDS LMAO"
just think about how bullshit nen becomes when it's used to explain away greed island
like an entire island of people operating under these rules each with 100 cards of unique magical properties some of which are insanely powerful like healing any wound
My ex used to tell me that I looked sexy when I got mad. I'm convinced that people who argues to watch other get mad are closeted faggots.
>entire island of people
There are 100 cartridges of Greed Island and each can have 1-8 players, so there is a maximum capacity of 800 players in Greed Island. But considering that people can come in and out, that there are cartridges on sale without any playet, and that some people wouldn't share their cartridges, there were probably roughly 200-400 players at any given time. So there are 14 Masters, and and at least a dozen convicts in forced labor, powering up the cards of 200 players. And each player probably uses around 5-10 cards every day. So you have 1000-2000 uses of an ability / 14. So the Game Masters needed to use their power maybe 75-150 times per day.
It must be hard, but it does not seem impossible by any stretch. Especially if there were more convicts and "human npcs" than we were led to believe.
>So why do you guys wank Nen so hard?
Bandwagon opinion
Pokemon's power system is by far more complex than Nen if we consider all the game mechanics, but nice try hunterfaggot.
It also becomes more possible when you consider the memory cards/game as restrictions to empower the greed island.
Cringe. Pokemon doesn't even have Stealth mechanics like Nen, and Pokemon powers don't interact well with standard weaponry like guns do with Nen.
NO DONT SAY IT!
>He thinks those make it any more complex
Go read how much shit you need to be aware of to build a competitive team of 6 pokemon for doubles from scratch first.
If the possibility of stealthing into your opponent's room past his guarding Pokemon and killing him in his sleep before the match isn't there, it just isn't that good user.
Even Yu-Gi-Oh is more complex than Nen
You can do that in the Pokémon manga
All power systems eventually devolve into two extremes: raw energy blasts or "fuck it, it does what I want" aka Stands.
It's still better concept than haki or ki
>BETTER
ROFL
>Alchemy
>Bending
There are rare occasions.
Bending turned into Kaiju blasts of energy in Korra. Bending was also stretching a bit with Lightning bending and Metal bending.
The most common attack in FMA is punch ground -> spikes come out, which does not really use the concept of alchemy. And there was at least 1 weird Stand-like ability that did not use the concept at all in Pride. If it had continued for 100 chapters longer, it would have probably ended up doing both.
>nooo nen isn't this complex
>no no nooo nen is basic bitch shit even pokemon types are more complex
What power system would (You) make?
What one-hard rule would (You) put in a power system?
>So why do you guys wank Nen so hard?
It's a very interesting concept that has good rules and execution at the start which later derails into hot garbage.
The limitations are much better than the types precisely because they allow variety and balance
Pretty basic but
>Have six elements, fire, earth, water, wind, light, and dark
>let people only be able to use magic three to five times a day
>No time-space powers or other hacks.
It’s harder to claim that something is an asspull.
Chakra’s biggest problem to me was that it was explained throughout the story as a product of your own stamina (it even has pathways like the circulatory system), then very late in the manga, it’s suddenly a foreign substance from a fruit.
The original concept of Nen was interesting but literally the next arc after it was introduced it went full retarded, is no different than chakra, ki, etc, actually is even more bullshit, chakra and ki have even more restrictions than nen, with nen you can do ANYTHING as long the author farts say so.
If you love str8ct systems with branches and hierarchies drop nen and pick up vancian magic. Get some Tales of the Dying Earth into you
Anything simple, at the end of the day is all the same shit, the difference is that each character would develop their own skills depending on the situation they are in but still limited by many things, for example a character with a fire affinity could look for new ways on using that fire like a high pressure blade(Kuwabara style) or a blowtorch effect to break shit, but he couldn't "burn time and space" or use the chains of fire that let him use all the other elemental affinities at 100%, simple as that, no shit The Last Air Bender was great on this regard, you want a good power system watch The Last Air Bender.
>b-but Aang
Explained perfectly and from the beginning and the character have to actually go through a lot of development to reach new heights, I rather have an OP MC than get tricked by a "talent MC" that end up being "le chosen one" like Gon.
