How bad does artwork have to be for you to drop a manga?
How bad does artwork have to be for you to drop a manga?
Much like Tokyo Ghoul the art style starts shitty but ends up being pretty good.
This differentiates it from a series where the style is good at the start and ends up worse at the end (Naruto) or simply loses all soul (Bleach). Or one that had shitty art at the start and still does (One Piece)
Attack on Titan "improved" artwork still doesn't look professional
>artfags
Comics are a visual medium

yes
When it gets in the way of understand what's going on.
I dont mind bad chara design. Shit like old shoujo manga paneling is what I hate the most
Bland artwork is worse than bad artwork, not to mention story + paneling can carry a manga very hard. I’d rather read Mob Psycho 100 or Claymore over any generic isekai or romcom with no backgrounds
>Shit like old shoujo manga paneling is what I hate the most
yeah this bugs me too. everyone is like floating around
If it is worse than the beginning volumes of Elfen Lied.
>reading manga with shit art in the first place
Haha...
Is there a manga where the writing is so good that the shit art doesn't bother you?
Very bad. Still, I finished SS Episode G but didn't bother with the sequel.
Just watch the anime. SnK manga art is trash.
when it's nonexistent
what light novel is this?
>people will say SnK looks bad when Baki exists
yes your manga looks like shit
no I will not acquire your taste
As long as I can understand what is happening it is alright. So SnK is passable, but Sam8 had to be dropped.
I'll never drop a manga I'm already reading because of the art, but I won't pick up manga if the art is bad
wrong board marveltranny
Average. I buy a lot of physical and I'm having to trim back. If the art isn't interesting or the story isn't at least personally meaningful, I don't have space for it. Superb stories with boring art are a rarity anyway.
Tokyo Ghoul had good art from the start.
ugly character design and paneling that doesn't flow
anything with too much text I drop
This bad.
In a way this relates to the OP pic. Isayama still has chicken scratch moments, but even when he first started out with chapter 1 when everything looked like shit, the paneling and layout of the series was superb.

The art style being "bad" (as in; to carttony, sketchy...) is not a problem, as long as it suits the manga, on the other hand, thing like boring or static paneling, movement that don't feel dynamic when they should, faces that don't express a lot of emotions whe needed... Can be really annoying
Is it just me or does it seem that in the past 150 chapters or so, the art of one piece just makes it incredibly difficult to read compared to what is used to be. Should I just wait for the color scene before I continue reading?
You just needed a few words to express what I tried to say in a long text. Thank you.
If I pick up the manga, art work alone won't make me drop it.
It's usually asspulls and extended hiatus that make me drop that shit
Honestly, AoT has amazing facial expressions. There's a lot of snapshots of just eyes with no dialogue, and they convey so much emotion by themselves.
I've yet to drop anything because of art. I got close with some one shot collections that had really messy art. I also dropped Liar Game, though not exclusively because of the art, but, while it wasn't really bad it just felt really stiff.
Yes, the art downgrades continuously until it become really messy, with no white space, every panel full to the brim. The same happens with the story by the way, really bloated, with 1000 side characters nobody cares about, every arc is about 100 chapters long. Messy all around.
