Obvious bait aside, It is in fact a great expression. Namek showed us a very different side of Goku.
Yeah, Goku is underrated as a character because the anime and DBS flanderized him. But he has a lot of serious scenes, one of m favorite is when he wakes up during the Androids arc.
Toriyama wrote Goku pretty well for the most part, although a big part of his development is implied rather than outright told (could be because it probably came naturally to Toriyama rather than being planned).
