This manga blows me away every chapter, I fucking love it.
One of my favorite parts of the latest chapters is the theming around the Gun Devil. We recently learned that he's not just fueled by fear of guns, but he's the literal embodiment of the Arms Race, everyone wanting as much of him as they can to hold power over everyone else and keep him pointed away from themselves.
But in this chapter, we touch on another gut-wrenching facet of the Gun Devil. One might say the most fearsome thing about guns is that someone can go on a mass killing spree just as easily as a child playing pretend in the yard. The fact that some people literally treat these things like toys. And really, how much in the world is scarier than a clueless kid with a gun who thinks it's all a fucking game?

Can someone translate this, thanks !!!
Kishibe looks more haggard than based mikkelsen
it's pretty great for what it is, completely unapologetic ultraviolence that doesn't pretend to be anything high-brow but ends up being an interesting socio-political commentary on wage slavery and arms trade
also chainsaws

Also, Denj is an interesting character, his motivations went from trivial and materialistic things, understandable given his past, to more personal like worrying about his friends and his own humanity
I want fujimoto to go a little slower, pad out things a little.
I wanted another eternity arc, or training arc.
Its just main plot advancement after main plot advancement.
I can't believe I want a shounen to add filler.
What a fucking contrast with my hero academia where I just want horikoshi to hurry the fuck up with this plot (although he finally had the balls to advance it now)
>I can't believe I want a shounen to add filler.
exactly what I'm thinking. Fuji's ADHD brain is way too focused on the main storyline. The anime will have a lot of room to work with.
I do feel like it's a narrative choice at least. The characters are having barely any time to deal with all the crazy shit that's been going on. They've hardly recovered from the Darkness fight, and now the stakes are bigger than ever. With such a lack of down time, we really get to better feel what the characters are going through.
>socio-political commentary on wage slavery and arms trade
So if you think CM is doing that, then what is this commentary?
I thought months have passed since Darkness.
Fuck no. Let's keep it like this and go straight for the point, it's the only good thing about this manga.
arent you tired of the pain?
>it's the only good thing about this manga
Madds would be perfect for Kishibe. Let's get Taylor Swift for Makima, some black kid for Denji, Robert Pattison for Aki, Andy Serkis to play a CG Power and have Raimi direct. Also, someone go get Nic Cage and Eric Roberts to play the Future and Darkness devils.
>Guns are bad. M'key?
since at the start of the assassins arc they mentioned that they were going to fight gun in a year I believe you are correct
I've got a question. The president offers parts of the American populace's lifespans as payment to a devil, but how would that work? Obviously you can't just offer up anyone's life to a devil, so he has to have some authority to do so. And yeah obviously he's the president, but do devils recognize elected leadership? Did the citizens sign a waiver at some point in one of those terms of services contracts? Is it in the Constitution?
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, it's just very curious. You know there would be people living off the grid or crawling the dark web going "No way am I gonna let the GOVERNMENT sign my life away to a DEVIL!" while everyone considers them insane.
NO BRAKES IN THE FUJI TRAIN
>do devils recognize elected leadership?
it's probabily a symbolic thing
started reading CM two days ago, already on chapter 55 and it's based. Wish I read it earlier.
It's like a good Jujutsu Kaisen, which I already liked quite a bit but have gripes with the main cast.
It's not that different from a corrupt politician who would sell his people for enough money
I see it more like a forced conscription
People who live "off the grid" take for granted that the US government and military has cordoned off a part of the planet and made it safe and relatively environmentally clean enough that they can play pretend survivalist.
So just by being born in or living in American society you already have this "debt" to America that the prez could use for signing a particular defense contractor. I doubt whoever warlord or government of Somalia can make the same deal.
Nuh uh! If you say you're a sovereign citizen and believe hard enough, the government can't steal your soul!
I just finished this. What a crazy wild ride.
Fuji recognizes that the societal contract comes with some debts and responsibilities, not only in the Japanese collectivist tradition, but also in an individualist society focused on freedom. Freedom ain't free. All those libertarians and pretend-survivalists, their property and liberty is guaranteed by the might of the country that birthed them and they'd do well to remember that there is NOTHING stopping the country from taking those same liberties away at any time.
Hell, the President of the US already has the unilateral power to order nuclear strikes! That'd cut the life of Americans a lot shorter than merely a year, but people still accept that POTUS has that power. The Gun Devil really is an allegory on the arms race, nuclear weapons and freedom.
Shotaki!
