Thats cool but I wanted some of 07's other stuff to be animated. It starting to get annoying remakes are happening in anime where there are plenty of other stories out there unlike the creatively bankrupt Hollywood.

I genuinely fear remakes. I’ve still got hope that I’ll be good though. When they cry is one of my all time favorites

I’m still not completely sold on the new art style but it might work out. The original had very “over the top” big eyes and almost bubbly at times character design. I feel like it added to the unease that the story was trying to convey.

The previous music compositor is involved so I have high expectations regarding the soundtrack.
Other than that, I think we can only wait and see how it goes.

Crossing fingers for cicada noises and catchy intro music

If it's a true reboot, then I don't see the point of doing it, especially with the same VAs and with only 12 episodes.

Is it really just Onikakushi? That would kinda suck because the VN only really gets good in the later arcs.

I feel like it has potential to pull a sneaky and fly under the radar for people thinking it’s a slice of life similar to how the original series did. I think that has something to do with the redesigns. They look very plastic and shiny

A reboot of Higurashi could well just be a slice of life, given its style.

I fucking love the artstyle

JUST RELEASE A NEW TRAILER FFS!!!

Give us new info, we need more. Also when is the manga gonna come out?

You know, never was all that into slice of life. But I feel like it might be nice to have one that didn’t mindfuck you every 3 seconds

Might be down for it

This is all worthless bth.

How so

It’s like the board game clue except anime with lolis getting stabbed to death, what’s not to love

>It’s like the board game clue except anime with lolis getting stabbed to death, what’s not to love
brainlet take

I know it’s far more complex than that but that’s basically season 1 in a nutshell

Why? It's so fucking wobbly. It doesn't match the style at all.

I agree it feels less chiseled and characterized. They feel way too rounded out considering what the source material was. More realistic but also more generic.

Watanabe's designs are always so disarming and moe, I can't fucking imagine how they're going to fit into Higurashi

It reminds me of some high school girl doodling. It has less soul to it, i agree it looks significantly more “Moe”

Perhaps they can tie it into the series more with the cute designs getting crucified and gutted. Might be an interesting take

I don't know if I'd say it has "less soul" when his characters are always full of life and expressive, but it just seems so much more appropriate for drama/romance like Monogatari and TWGOK, and jarring for a thriller/horror type like Higurashi. I agree that it'd be interesting to see it play out

I think when they cry’s genius storytelling relies heavily on something being “off” about the characters. Especially when the arcs start happening and we see glimpses of what may or may not be happening. We grow to not trust the characters or even the main protagonist. It pulls you into the myself and almost makes the viewer part of the story in a way. The bendy campy designs with gigantic cat-like eyes and weird anatomy really seals the deal in that way

I’m just hoping the reboot/update/ whatever can pull off the same vibes

An example would be when renna is all lively and lovey-Dovey and switches to very cold and serious when her eyes go solid and she has a blank expression in the first act when the MC asks about the dam murders

> Can You Believe This ?

Is also the tag line at the end of each episode

>look up who's making it
into the trash

God, I hope your wrong

I really loved the anime despite what other say it was fucking great for me the new design it's different not that I completely dislike it though but I can't really see any "spooky*/blood" shit with that kind of style, just doesn't fit IMO Rika looks cute though.

Guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers that they can make something so rounded look intimidating.

I am going to jerk my dick to this so much. Rena and Shion a best.

Based

Even if it flops we’ve got some renewed interest in the series. Might get some actually good porn drawn for it

Finally

Is it really only 12 episodes? The first series was cutting it thin with 24 and probably could have done with dropping one of the arcs, do they plan on multiple seasons? Otherwise I don't see how this doesn't end up as rushed and horrible as THAT adaption, regardless of animation quality.
