Agni is not very likable. He is extremely shallow because he was written to be so due to constantly combatting the flames. Is he sometimes interesting/likable? Absolutely. But he has nothing on most good protags.
Most of the side characters are underdeveloped and/or killed off too early to be fully appreciated.
The plot is also extremely shallow and honestly boring at times. I don't mind slow pacing and a lesser amount of action, but then I want the dialogue and rest of the story itself to be interesting or able to draw you in to it's world.
There really just isn't anything special about fire punch to me other than the art, which honestly was pretty mediocre at times, especially near the end where you can blatantly see corners being cut constantly.

Just to further this - I really like chainsaw man. The characters are much more likable, the art is vastly improved despite keeping a similarish style, and the overall story is more interesting.
It's not necessarily as "artistic," because its a shounen series running in SJ, but I enjoyed the SantaClaus arc more than the entirety of fire punch, and we're just now approaching 1/3 of CSM's story.

The first 30 chapters nothing really happens, and it feels so slow because you want agni to kill Doma but he does nothing to achieve his goal, once they destroy the city it gets better and the characters become likeable.
But then agni kills Doma for no reason and it feels like ''if i told you to kill all the Japanese'' from Code geass and everything that follows is hit.

The detail of the first chapters of FP is that they are a bait, they present you with a hardcore edgy tone and a plot cliche of revenge to later show what the work really is... A satire of the genre, after presenting togata the work becomes a satire that begins to mock practically all the tropes of the revenge plots...On in other words, the fucking point
