Japan Sinks 2020

This is honestly the first time I finished a series and couldn't decide if I hated it or loved it. I'm just so confused right now.

Japan Stinks

You hate it

The animation is the only thing memorable about it, and not in a good way.

You didnt have time to figure out how you feel about it because the show runs a mile a minute.

In a second you're discussing if someone is psychic or not.

And the other there's a dude in a wheelchair shooting arrows at people.

fpbp

how did kite survive

What a piece of shit of a show. Every character is cringe and retarded.
People like family die and they go "oh no :c" and the next scene they are laughing or rapping or taking foto.
>b-but it's because they have to keep on living, they don't have time to cry!
Such a bullshit excuse for shit writing.
One thing is to keep going, another thing is laughing happily with no sign of sadness.
Why the fuck does kite, who has nothing to do with this family and could fucking fly just goes "meh I'm parto of your family now"
Why they completely trust with no problems whatsoever the old guy who almost killed a kid?
Why the mother just let the kid go inside a fucking cult base with the old baby killer without even trying to stop it and then she's just with it?
Why the fuck when the mother jumps in the water to try to free the anchor doesn't go up to breath after her first 10 seconds try to free the rope instead of changing the plan while staying underwater? She wasn't in a hurry she could easily try, be unsuccessful, go up, breath and go back down
Also this cheesy bullshit that everyone is good-hearted, even the fucking cult, just picking up pedofile looking English men from the streets, also there's a real fucking witch in a show sbout the real world collapsing.
That fucking kid speaking English even when people are dying in front of him.

Also the drawings are shit but that's to expect from this author

Basically all this series does is kill the main characters because of "omg shock value you didn't expect the main character to die uh? We're revolutionary! “
Except maybe for the dad you call all the deaths before they happen,

Jesus what a shit show.

the kid speaking english bugged me more than it really should've. nearly stopped watching because of how annoying it was.

Also how the fuck do they always have a fucking functioning phone, even after being for days with no electricity power or after swimming for hours?
Jesus and that fucking useless dude who used to run who just listens to music like you can charge the phone at every fucking tree or whatever.

And I've seen multiple articles saying the this is one of the best animes of 2020.

Anime was indeed a mistake

Absolute trash. All money spent on backgrounds and then they realized they also have to animate characters. This is the result. 1978 LotR look alike animation failure.
There are some good scenes though; dad exploding, boomer on electric wheelchair shooting arrows at people.
2/10

The old guy 360ing arrows at armed guards was so trash it was beautiful

that old guy was fucking based with this wheelchair shooting skills

>final episode was a travel ad for why you should visit japan
literally why?

>literally why?
Because Jap gov't shills for it like crazy. Japan doesn't get that many tourists for what it is. It's a great country but it does seem a bit unapproachable at times.

This is a 15yo girl

>drifting in a life raft in the sea of japan for what we assume to be days
>mother somehow finds them in her rowboat
>from there they drift and find an abandon speed boat
>haul ass towards land without knowing if they were on the right path
>boat breaks down
>out of nowhere kite rolls up in a military sub to save the day
it's amazing that a series with so much bad luck could also have an insane amount of good luck. also, why didn't that stupid bitch get her leg properly treated at the cult compound?
the animation reminded me of aeon flux but not in a good way

agree. their reaction are too innatural.

This series had the tools to be great but this is what a bad direction looks like, if anyone ever ask "what is bad direction" just tell them to watch this show, at the end I COULDN'T give a single shit about any character except Kite, only character we got to different angles of and actually progress, well, technically we also got to see the hiki character progress and develop but his death was done in a way that only made me feel "can you die already please, I want to see what happen next". I hated how the 2 main kids were the exact same characters we saw on episode 1 at the end of the series.

The thing that makes this show so frustrating is there are some great episodes. Episode 1 and Episode 8 are actually fantastic, relatively humanised and actually have the weight of situation at hand. The moment the dad died due to a fucking yam mine let me know this show was going to be garbage, but it hurts to know there was a good anime buried under the garbage

All he had to do was get the air balloon down after getting the signal but they didn't show us that part, to me it was the only "impactful" scene done right but it would had been better if they showed us his destiny, the helicopter searching around and finding him close floating around would had made sense even if they didn't confirmed his well being.
I was watching this on the implication that they were collecting cellphones with full charge lying around, also they did had some points in which they could recharge them, the problem is that we never get to see this, or any implication about it... I just had to assume it to make it make some sense.
The dad dying wouldn't had been so bad if they handled it better afterwards, it would had been the perfect point to make a tone shift on the show but nope, the series doesn't even allow you to feel anything before they change to "EPIC UPBEAT MUSIC UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ" so the entire thing ends up looking like a comedy.

Why would he do it?

It had some touching and meaningful moments but the rest of it was shallow shit
Haruo best boy and deserved better.

I was really wishing he was the only survivor of the entire thing, it would had been so much meaningful, he truly conveys the message of going down and rising up once again, but no, we got the shitty kids surviving that are basically responsible of everyone's death, what a nice message there.

Honestly Chinese/Korean propaganda to try and rain on what would be the Olympic year.
